'Big brother' to the award-winning Chung Ying Garden on Thorp Street, this was the first Chinese restaurant in Birmingham to cater to both Western and Chinese tastes. Situated in the heart of Chinatown, it opened in 1981 and the menu here adds up to more than 300 dishes. The restaurant caters for up to 350 people on two floors with the focus firmly on the food.

Established in 1987, Chung Ying Garden offers a vast selection of dishes (including supposedly the most comprehensive Chinese menu in Britain) and seats 350 people over two floors in what was formerly the Thorp Street army barracks.
