Ego Mediterranean Restaurant has opened in Sheffield city centre on the ground floor of the luxury St Paul's Mercure Hotel. The 120-seater venue is just minutes from the railway station, theatres and university and is the first Yorkshire opening for a small chain celebrating its tenth anniversary Ego currently have nine restaurants in the North West and the Midlands and specialise in fresh and quality Mediterranean food served in a bright and modern environment.

The Spice Quarter in the Electric Press Building brings to Leeds a new concept in dining out. You can choose from more than 100 dishes in the first floor buffet area, visiting various 'quarters' in the open-plan kitchen. Choose Chinese and Thai dishes from the oriental quarter, kebabs, south Indian pancakes and curry from the Indian quarter, pasta and pizza from the Italian quarter, and leave room for the salad and dessert counters. Eat as much as you like for one fixed price.

Husband-and-wife team George and Vasoulla opened their first restaurant in 1982 and in the ensuing quarter century have built up a reputation for serving some of the best Greek food in the country. As well as making regular TV and radio appearances promoting Greek food, they now run three Olive Tree restaurants -- in Chapel Allerton, in Headingley and in Rodley - and between them they have picked up over the years a hatful of awards, most recently Restaurant of the Year plaudits from both the Yorkshire Post and the Hi-Life Diners Club. The Sunday Times singled out The Olive Tree as one of the UK's top four Greek restaurants and all three venues are listed in Harden's guide. Rodley's Olive Tree opened in 1986 and is housed in an elegant building with wooden floors, high ceilings, chandeliers and country views. Rodley's Olive Tree has even made the Guinness Book of Records as the home of the world's longest kebab (325 metres).
