had a dinner at Al Faisal 136-140 Stoney Lane. There were 12 of us. As it was Saturday, the restaurant was busy, we got a table after some wait. Service was slow, I guess you can't expect much from most restaurants on a Saturday.
We almost got overcharged : a friend of ours felt the bill was high,
so he asked for a printed bill. They kept telling us what all we had ordered, but just wouldn't give a printed bill! Instead, they were trying to give us two other bills "for VAT purposes". On checking, we found that we were overcharged by about 60%! I think to avoid any problems with credit card companies, they refunded us the difference in cash, but we hope that their constant "we can't print your bill" was not hiding a regular problem!! Its a lesson, & we will be careful in future- behind all the photos of celebrity visits,
hope Al Faisal haven't lost their integrity.

the best curry house in the whole of Birmingham! the food is amazing! and very consistent, i also recommend the mango lassi! delicious! The best thing is its independent, support your local restaurants!

Stay away. Took my other half for a suprise meal only to be so disappointed and disgusted the way we were treated. In short, everything started off well, but then the food came, don't know if the chef was in a bad mood him having to work on valentines day or what, but everything we had was like if it been topped with sugar! Considering how hungry we were, no one could eat more then a few bites before giving up and leaving. Our next delight, being double charged. By the time we realised this, we were half way back to London. The manager was to be applauded. "Refund, no problem, just come back to the shop"

We have been here on numerous occasions despite the food being tasty on several occasions we’ve been given the wrong food and by the time they bring the right dish it has ruined our dinning experience. Despite the let down in the past I thought i would still give it another go and just last week I rang on several times to book a table of 17 for Mum’s 60th birthday and as some are vegetarian I asked if some the meat dishes could be made using vegetables. I had the phone down on me twice and I was kept on hold for 20min!! As a result we have simply decided to stop going.

What a load of rubbish!!!
The place is like a loud canteen...
we booked a table for 8 and we got squeezed onto a table for 6 people...after complaining we brought the table next to us so we could spread out!!
most of there food is pre-cooked as you can see a plastic box coming out in the kitchen and scoop fulls being put into the pan heated and served !! as the kitchen is open plan, its so blatant to see!
between 8 of us, all 8 dishes had the same flavour running through them, salty and horrible!!! pre cooked sauces and dishes !
one of our party sked for a lamb dish which had sauce...are the waiters thick?? the person received the most dry dish on the menu !!
a chicken makhani is made with cream and tomatoes, at Alfaisals you get it with plenty of salt and tasted like a cheap microwave meal !
this place is so over rated, the service is rubbish (even though they apply a non-optional service charge!!), the seating area is so tight you cannot move and the portions are way too small !
dont waste your money here, just because it has been refurbed dont be fooled, its still as crap as ever !!

As I now live in California , it is with great expectations I revisit Al Faisals whenever I fly back to visit family. I have been going for over 20 yrs, when it was a single shop ! It never fails & always delivers the best meals from all over the Menu. Even my mom in her 80's enjoys the food .The new decor is fantastic & enhances the food with it's classy but cultured decor. Long may you keep cooking the Best in Kashmir Food . I'll be back in August 2008 for another couple of visits.
