Casa Brasserie is housed inside Nantwich’s Best Western Crown Hotel, a characterful former coaching inn with a history stretching back more than 400 years. The original building burnt down in 1583 and was rebuilt by Queen Elizabeth I with timber from the nearby Delamere Forest. Casa Brasserie is under the stewardship of head chef Brian McKenna who has worked in some of London’s top restaurants, including the Savoy and Claridges, as well as closer to home the Chester Grosvenor. It’s open for lunch and dinner seven days a week (except Sunday lunch) with a full Italian menu served in the evenings and more traditional fare on offer at lunchtime. The hotel also has a bar and carvery, a Georgian ballroom, 18 ensuite rooms and a special Movie Night every Monday where you can dine at Casa Brasserie then watch a movie screening for just £10.

The Dusty Miller enjoys a lovely tranquil location in Wrenbury on the banks of the Shropshire Union Canal. This former mill has been converted into a pub and restaurant with a coffee shop soon to be added overlooking the brook at the back. Chef-proprietor Mark Sumner offers a seasonal menu of robust British dishes, all locally sourced, and there is a daily specials board with plenty of fish options. Typical dishes include Roast fillet of seabass served with new potatoes and crayfish thermidor and Homemade lamb burger with chilli and mint, melting Appleby’s Cheshire cheese and fries. Desserts include Sticky toffee pudding made to the original Lakeland recipe. The Dusty Miller is a warm and welcoming rustic retreat, perfect for a quiet pint or a meal in relaxed surroundings. Service is immaculate and although it’s advisable to book at weekends, your table is yours for the duration. A separate function room can accommodate up to 50.
