Argentinian cuisine can be described as a melting pot inspired by both Italy and Spain. Wilmslow’s CAU, which stands for Carne Argentina Unica, takes its cues from the vibrant city of Buenos Aires with a range of succulent Argentinian beef cuts available. There are a total of eight different cuts of beef to choose from, both classic and specialty. Opt for the classic medallions of lomito or for the more adventurous try tapa de cuadril, cut from the top of the rump. This is CAU’s signature dish served the Brazilian way – thinly sliced and flash grilled for a melt in the mouth experience. There are also Italian and Spanish small plate options if it’s a light bite you’re after. The Picada is a popular choice, a selection of Argentinian-style charcuterie served with sourdough and pickles. Sunday roast is also on the menu (not so South American) served with Yorkshire puddings too! If you’ve still got room, give the CAU cornflake ice cream sundae a go, complete with tempting layers of cornflake-flavoured ice cream, cornflakes, crumbled chocolate brownie and dulce de leche. (Twenty pence is donated to the local children’s hospice for every sundae ordered.)
