Recently named by Conde Nast, the ‘Best Leisure Hotel in the British Isles’, Buckland Manor, near Broadway, dates back to the thirteenth century. Set in glorious grounds featuring immaculate gardens with a running stream, small waterfalls, croquet lawns and tennis courts. Typical A la Carte starters of pan fried Cornish scallops, glazed baby fennel tart tatin with cauliflower puree and confit belly of pork, local black pudding, sage and onion bonbon with apple dressing, sit well with mains of roasted loin of Monkfish, chorizo rosti potato, tempura squid and tomato jus and roast fillet of new season Cotswold Lamb, Savoy cabbage, mint and caper jus. As one would expect absolutely everything is made in house including the indulgent desserts and even the Buckland Manor ice creams. The wine list here is a major achievement and features nearly 500 bins plus 105 half bottles.
