What a find! A gorgeous country pub hidden away with great food and service. A notch above most pubs and one I would heartily recommend to others!

First visit in 3 years. Really amazed by alterations!

The family had a great meal here. The place is under new ownership and looks great. A very professional set up.
Oh Dear
Would recommend this place to anyone who likes eating in Wetherspoons. Thar's the quality of the meal we had there last weekend. Oh and on complaining and then paying we were asked to leave immediately. On returning to my car in the morning my cars roof had been slashed. working on the principle that the two aren't linked then watch out for someone in the sleepy town of Brigsteer carrying a knife.

My Partner and I eat at the Wheatsheaf at least once a month and have only just stumbled across sugarvine and are truly amazed that the Wheatsheaf doesn't have a lot more reviews, The food and the service are always first class and everyone I mention the Wheatsheaf to agrees with me!! Keep up the good work Lee & Kate (& little Dan too)

I absolutely loved this gastro pub. The food was cooked to perfection with a huge choice on of menu's. We could actually taste the freshness of everything we ate, service was friendly and smiley and the waiter and waitress really created a lovely atmosphere by chatting with us all. all in all a very enjoyable visit, we just wish we lived nearer!

We were visiting our daughter in Staveley and wanted to take her out for dinner. She booked the Wheatsheaf. I can honestly say that the food was superb, the service excellent, and the overall experience of eating there was an absolute delight. Without going into the full details of what we ate, the venison was the best I've had in years, the fish dishes were fresh and cooked to perfection, starters and puddings mouth watering just to look at, let alone the taste! Wine was perfectly chilled and delicious. As for the service, the people at the 'sharp end' were pleasant, attentive and showed professionalism beyond their years. I would like my daughter to marry one of your chefs - if he's free -as the cooking I could put up with every night! Anyway, one of the best dining experiences I've had in years!

I recently ate at the Wheatsheaf as I had heard of their new talented Head Chef. I found the restaurant contemporary and welcoming with a great atmosphere. The menu had plenty of choice with a delightful specials board. I was pleased to see that the menu consisted of a variety of local produce which rivaled many other restaurant that market themselves purely on this aspect.
The food itself was divine: well balanced, wholesome, exciting, presentable and extremely tasty. Overall I could not fault this excellent gem in the heart of Cumbria.
