Went here for my hen night on Saturday. They ruined the evening. No greeting on arrival, served walnut bread to one of our party with a nut allergy despite being prewarned by email. Waited an hour and a half surrounded by dirty plates between main course and dessert. Were only able to catch staff to order one round of drinks all evening and when we finally managed to catch someone to ask for the desserts and tried to order more drinks we were told bar staff were too busy. So no more drinks! Table set up so there was no room for waiting staff to get past so guests kept having to stand up to let them through. Ignored for most of the evening and blank looks and no apologies when we complained several times. Shocking really. When I emailed them to say we realised later they charged us £36 in gratuities without asking first and asked for a refund due to our bad experienceI was treated to more woeful customer focus. Unacceptable. All twelve guests were unhappy and I was left feeling like a right idiot as the organsier. Thanks for ruining my hen night Lucy4.

February 2010. Ive just spent the weekend in Coniston and looked on sugarvine and the good food guide and saw the reviews of Lucys. It certainly didn't live up to the reviews. I had to send two drinks back which were awful, the baked bruschetta had rancid meat on it, the rest of the food was mediocre at best. We were gutted because we were really looking forward to it after reading the positive reviews, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant, cheap food which was prepared badly.

My husband and I first visited Lucy4 on its opening night in1999 whilst visiting Ambleside to celebrate our engagement.
We revisited this weekend to celebrate 10 years of marriage and the whole ambience of the place is superb, just as we remembered. The food was fabulous with a fantastic variety on the menu. The staff are very attentive. We both particularly enjoy tapas and found the portions to be very generous. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

The greek salad was very tiny, miniscule chopped cucumber, tom, onion. The feta cheese had no flavour. The vegetables used for the dips were so thinly cut, you'd never know it was celery and carrot. The tzatziki was bland, no flavour. Best thing was the wine. You can taste whichever you like. Which was very good. prices were quite expensive too, for the quality. My partner had the steak, it was like something from a greasy cafe. Even our clothes stank of grease the next morning.

We booked Lucy4 purely by accident we were actually recommended Lucys on a Plate (the restaurant) Lucy4 is a Winebar / Tapas bar. This though was a brilliant mistake the food was wonderful, not your normal mundane Tapas affair of chicken in lemon and patas bravas, and the portions were very generous. Lucy4 seems less formal than its sister restaurant the atmosphere was quite vibrant and the staff really made us feel welcome. If you are looking for fun, informal evening with great food and wine in Ambleside this is it.

A good informal place to go, lovely atmosphere and good service. Don't order too many dishes tho.
