Alba is housed in the old lifeboat building in St. Ives and offers splendid views out over the harbour. A previous winner of the AA Seafood Restaurant of the year, and holder of a Rosette, chef Grant Nethercott produces perfectly cooked line-caught fish and seafood in a modern European style. The daily changing menus reflect the seasonal, local produce available and offer plenty for meat eaters and it has a separate Vegetarian al la carte menu. The wine list is excellent and cherry picks from some of the finest boutique wineries around the world. All the wines are available by the glass. Chantek means beautiful and this modern exciting restaurant is just that. Splendid décor on two floors manages to capture a real sense of Asia, its people and its food. Fabulous photography depicts everyday life in Malaysia, Vietnam and China and both floors feature up to the minute furniture, stylish lighting and a fine selection of art and artefacts collected from forays into the Far East. The ground floor dining room has an open theatre kitchen so you become part of the action; see, hear and smell as the chefs are busy at the wok burners. Chantek has an amazingly large menu full of authentic popular dishes from all corners of the Pacific Rim. The menu is very well priced and helps you to understand the dishes and what to expect. You can have a quick shoppers’ lunch or a full evening banquet. Upstairs you can choose from a selection of exotic cocktails and booze juices. A takeaway service is a bonus for locals. Now relocated, Tabbs Truro proudly opened its doors in November 2005 after a labour of love to completely rework what was a run down local pub. This Michelin Starred restaurant is now under new ownership, Chef-Patron Michael Riemenschneider has taken over the stove from Ben Tunnicliffe and the restaurant has changed in style. Michael has moved here from his position as Executive Head Chef at the two AA Rosette Old Coastguard Hotel in Mousehole where he still consults. Swiss-born Michael, at only 26, has had a formidable fast track through some of the best Michelin-starred kitchens around the world and has a confident, technically brilliant and elevated style of cooking.
