We discovered The Greenhouse because we were holidaying in the Lizard area and my wife has a gluten allergy - The Greenhouse was on her list of places that offers gluten-free. It was a revelation! The place was buzzing, a really nice atmosphere, the food was superb and generous and the service excellent. They make their own breads and everything is organic. We will definitely return next time we are in that area.

Went to the Greenhouse twice on recent trip to Lizard Pennisula, food was delicious and sensibly priced, best of all as a coeliac I could every mouthful of the delicious Sunday lunch and tempting dessert. Went back on Wednesday night to have Gluten free fish and chips, and discovered not only do they bake their own bread but they also bake delicious gluten free rolls so I could have bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip. Will go back as often as possible

We have eaten at the Greenhouse several times over the last 6 months and have found the food to be exceptionally good on each occasion. Portions are very generous. Ambience is pleasant and service is good and friendly. We will definitely be going back and have no hesitation in recommending it.

This restaurant is an inspiration. We have visited it several times over the last two years - whenever we go to the Lizard. The food is always delicious and serves both unexpected delights as well as good reliable organic meals. The service is warm and hospitable. It is a very popular place and therefore wise to book.

In Oct 2009, 7 hungry scuba divers enjoyed a lovely meal! The delicious food arrived hot (very good for such a large number of diners) and prompt :) The range of dishes was superb! Very polite and extremely reasonably priced. We'll be back!

We always look forward to eating at the Greenhouse when we visit St Keverne, and this year we ate twice on consecutive nights. The food is excellent and imaginative, the welcome is warm and friendly, and the bill is always very reasonable.
We will look forward to eating at the Greenhouse again next year, and would recommend it to anyone who loves eating good food in an informal setting

I am rarely allowed to go to the same restaurant twice (and if I do say I liked something especially then I am told by my other half to be more adventurous). And she is rarely known to be excited by fish. However, on our recent holiday, we went to the greenhouse on a Sunday and on leaving booked for the fish evening on the following Wednesday (booking is almost essential so do it!). We are very keen on eating (and buying) locally sourced foods and The Greenhouse did not disappoint. In fact we both ate fish for starters and main both visits! The curry (pollock) was delicious and the moules scored 100% (ie moules per shell), a very high score compared to Ealing. Our host explained this was down to the cooking (just right). Crab soup, sprats, bread - home made with oil and balsamic - puddings - all were fresh and delicious. I would like to have worked through the menu but we had to come home. I cannot recommend this place more highly and if you are anywhere near The Lizard make it an evening out (and drink local cider with the meal - great).
The owners work incredibly hard and the prices are very reasonable - go for it.

We have had a wonderful holiday in Cornwall supported by our two visits to this lovely restaurant. The food is local, delicious and exciting and the welcome was warm. If you want a restaurant that makes everything from scratch including the bread and that accommodates children with smaller portions of any of the adult meals but still retains a sophisticated, friendly atmosphere I recommend this wholeheartedly... oh and probably book because it would be such a shame not to experience it for yourself.

We dined at the Greenhouse twice during our week long holiday in St Keverne last week - the food, wine and service is excellent and the cosy atmosphere delightful. We enjoyed a selection of fresh homemade bread, sardines, red mullet, venison curry, pork belly and an amazing peanut butter & chilli ice cream - what a treat!! What's particularly good is that children are welcome in the restaurant - my 10 year old son loved the fish & chips and homemade ice cream. Having dined in some top restaurants in London it's great to find a gem of a restaurant like the Greenhouse where the food is equally as good if not better - top marks to Neil and Leonie. We plan on coming back to this area of Cornwall again and will certainly make sure we are booked into the Greenhouse for dinner.and most likely more than once!!

Every time we vist my Mum in nearby Cadgwith, we arrange to have a meal out here, and have never been disappointed. I've told my brothers about The Greenhouse, and they also now take Mum tere each time they visit. I can't really add much to the previous recommendations, but would strongly recommend reserving a table in high season - several people were turned away on the Saturday (8th August). The food is excellent (I had the pork belly), portions decent, prices fair, service efficient & friendly, atmosphere cosy - I wish we had something like it up here in Reading where we live.

We enjoyed a good value Sunday lunch and so booked a table for Wednesday at 7:30 as it was"seafood and fish night". The restaurant was heaving, all tables taken and there was a queue for the take-away. Good choice of menu for both visits and, for a small restaurant, a lengthy wine list. Madam enjoyed her half lobster so much that she asked if she could have another to take away for the next day! In all excellent food, excellent service from the two person team and excellent ambiance. If this is an example of an organic restaurant let's have more of them.

The Greenhouse gives you great quality local ingredients which are very well prepared and simply presented. The surroundings are relaxed, the welcome warm and the prices more than reasonable - so it ticks all my boxes for a great restaurant. They also have a well chosen wine list and serve great local beers. We have become regulars - as much as an annual holiday in Cornwall permits - and recommend The Greenhouse to anyone we know who is going to the area. Friends have done exactly what we did the first time, eaten there and immediately booked to go back before the end of the trip, which is a recommendation in itself.

We rushed in rather late for a restaurant but were warmly greeted and accommodated. The food, service and atmosphere was so fantastic we opted for the same again the next night having originally intended to eat elsewhere! (May 2009)

Delightful restaurant in the pretty village of St kervene. We had a most fantastic Sunday lunch- the baked cod was delicious. We booked a table for my birthday on 13th May and it was seafood evening. My husband had the lost amazing fresh crab and the fish and chips. The portions are huge but well priced. I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

We had a lovely meal here on 13th May - asparagus, chicken, bream and treacle tart. We recommend it.

A great menu, cooked & served brilliantly in a relaxed environment by friendly owners, accompanied by a great selection of wines & beers. TOP MARKS!!! We had a truly lovely evening and will definitely be back! We're already telling our friends too!

We would not have found this restaurant if it had not been recommended to us, and we are grateful that it was. The food is excellent. The decor has character and the restaurant looks like your grandmother's dining room, but the emphasis is heavily on the food, which is fresh, down-to-earth and very tasty. The treacle tart I had for dessert was the best I have ever eaten. I would definitely go back, and that is the highest recommendation I could give.

We planned our holiday around eating at The Greenhouse and ate there 5 days out of 7 (they were closed the other 2 days). We'd eaten there on a previous holiday and couldn't wait to go back. This is how all restaurants should be run - food and wine are all superb and the beef dripping roast potatoes with Sunday lunch are to die for. We only wish there was a restaurant half as good nearer to home in Berkshire.

The Greenhouse is a wonderfully friendly, unpretentious organic restaurant with really delicious food. We plan to return when we are next in Cornwall.

We were visiting the area and found the Greenhouse near to where we were staying. Sadly we only went to the Restaurant on the last night we were there, otherwise we would have been there every night! The food, service and prices really are fantastic! We were made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our evening there. We will be back next year and spend more time enjoying the hospitality. Many thanks to Neil and Leonie for looking after us see you next year.

My wife and I live in St. Keverne and when the Leoni and Neil opened their Greenhouse Organic Restaurant we could hardly believe such exciting menus could be found right here on our doorstep. We wasted no time in becoming frequent diners with them and since then we have had the pleasure of sampling some of the most delicious and imaginary dishes available in this area - or anywhere else for that matter. They must be the most hospitable hosts we have ever met. We are fortunate indeed.

We ate here with our two children aged 10 and 7 on 04/09/08 and could find no fault! The cooking, service, ambience and prices were superb. This was excellent produce cooked simply and well - no complicated or overly elaborate techniques, the food was able to truly shine. I recommend that you book in advance and do not visit the region without visiting the Greenhouse - I only wish we lived closer!

We holiday on the Lizard every summer and visit The Greenhouse everytime! Fantastic interesting food, unfussy service and friendly towards kids. Wish we lived nearer!

Our friends have been raving about this restaurant so we thought we had better check it out for ourselves. We were very impressed. My husband said it was the best steak he had eaten for a long time and I thought the fish and chips were the best I'd eaten outside of NZ!! Friendly, relaxed and very tasty - what more could one want.

Luckily we discovered the Greenhouse restaurant early on in our week long stay in St Keverne! Absolutely delicious food and a real homely feel. We will definitely be back!

Ate at the Greenhouse at the end of our holiday in the Lizard. Everything about the restaurant was very good - they were great with my children, both under 10, and the quality of the cooking, ingredients and service were equivalent to many Michelin starred establishments I've recently eaten in. The menu is really well constructed with a great balance across the courses of fish and meat and - it was so reasonably priced. Frankly, its superb.

We made our second visit to The Greenhouse in August and eagerly look forward to the next. Sunday lunch really does offer outstanding value - the fresh ingredients are second to none and the imaginative combinations of flavours and perfect preparation make choosing from the menu rather difficult! The style is wholesome and rustic but with an understated contemporary edge. The importance of Neil's front of house service should not be underestimated - his calm friendliness results in a completely relaxed atmosphere where nothing is too much trouble. Looking forward to an evening visit next time!

Like another correspondent below, we dined at the Greenhouse three times whilst we were staying on the Lizard last week. My wife and I have eaten in some fantastic restaurants over the years with a fair collection of Michelin stars and other awards, but we were both of the opinion that The Greenhouse really is up there as a culinary experience and a real find. It's a very small place and from everywhere in the restaurant you can see the Chef, Leonie, working in the kitchen. From here she produces starters such as scallops with black pudding, pigeon breast with a blackberry salad, or chargrilled mackerel with rhubarb. This is followed by mains such as plaice with a vermouth and samphire sauce, braised venison with red wine and rosemary sauce or even the simplicity of battered haddock and chips! It is all perfectly executed and delivered by Neil, in front of house. The menu changes daily and there seems to be about 6 - 8 starters and a similar number of mains. Puddings include home made ices and sorbets as well as such choices as treacle tart (lovely!) or amaretto crème brulee. There is a lovely selection of wines, as well as several beer and cider choices from local breweries. It really was a lovely experience and highly recommended - well worth the trip to Cornwall on it's own!

This is the third year running that our family have have eaten at The Greenhouse, we love the food, it is beautifully cooked and very well presented. Between us all we have worked our way through the entire menu and loved it all. We are always made to feel very welcome and it is the highlight of our day, on our 14 day holiday we ate at The Greenhouse every day that it was open! Neil and Leoni are very accommodating with our different tastes and food allergies. We highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back as soon as we can.

Visited 2nd August 2008. Really fresh ingredients and complementary flavours make the food here both delicious and interesting. The menu is small and unpretentious and cooked and served by the calmest, most efficient and friendly team in a kitchen open for all to see. We very much hope we'll be able to visit again.

We discovered this place by accident and were absolutely blown away. The food is fairly priced and lovingly cooked, and without doubt was one of the best meals I have ever had. It's just a shame we only stumbled across it on the last night of our stay. Will be going back as soon as possible though!

Visited for the second year in succession and had another fabulous meal. Everything beautifully cooked and presented with fresh ingredients. Service was excellent as before and portion sizes are generous so could only manage ice cream for dessert this time, will definitely eat less during the day to save space for a "proper" pudding next time.

Fantastic locally sourced food. We first experienced Sunday lunch and have returned many times including for a evening meal. The food is faultless and the environment casual and friendly. Sunday lunch is better value and better prepared than any pub lunch and like a previous reviewer said well worth the trip

Excellent food & friendly but efficient service. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area.
Even though the Saturday we visited was a busy evening, the quality of food and standard of service was very good, so much so we visited again twice in the same week!

Recommended by Marilyn (20th October 2007)

This was my first visit to this restaurant and if I am in the area again, I shall seek it out. Everything was excellent from start to finish. The best way to approach it is not to have a cream tea in the same afternoon otherwise you might not be hungry enough to do it justice. It is one of the very best meals out I've had.

Recommended by Jane & Ian (3rd January 2007)

We loved it so much we dined there three times in the week we stayed on the Lizard! Absolute fantastic to enjoy real food cooked properly. Great ingredients - lots of local and organic produce - made into really delicious meals. Small menu (which I find reassuring personally) that changes daily. Fantastic vegetarian options and they were great about me being coeliac - even produced their own gluten-free bread! And I could have a pudding other than ice cream - a miracle!

Recommended by Bart (7th December 2006)

This is a great place to eat, we tried it for Sunday lunch, the quality of the food was superb, slow cooked lamb with the best quality veg. Lovely puds and a special vegetarian meal was made to order. Nothing is too much hassle, The chef/owner is friendly and the atmosphere is great.
There arent many Organic places around and you should try this one.

Recommendations:

The restaurant says that it sources its food locally and the freshness shines through. This is simple cooking superbly done, with sympathy for the ingredients as evidenced by the daily changing menu. The service was unobtrusive but attentive. A jug of water was offered which was a welcome change from most competitors. The restaurant is simply and tastefully decorated; although crowded it was not overly noisy. The food was not cheap but represents excellent value. Booking is essential to avoid disappointment as there are (from memory) only about thirty covers and it is deservedly very very popular.
