We recently visited the cafe where we had a great meal The staff were efficient and happy and the food was perfect. We had been to the seafood restaurant the previous night but much preferred the cafe's ambience. Don't miss out a visit!

I booked a table for 8 on 23/1/09 leaving my credit card details as requested. I phoned up to add 1 more person (12/8/09) to the reservation (which was now 5A,4C) to be told rather rudely that they were unable to accommodate this request. I explained the situation, we were on holiday, and now had 1 extra person joining us and were looking forward to eating at the restaurant, but I found that the person on the other end of the phone just wanted to cancel the booking rather then try and squeeze another one in. We were quite prepared to be a bit squashed, but I was rather disappointed in her brash and unhelpful attitude.
She cancelled the table and informed me that I would get an email confirming this - I have yet to receive this! I would like to say that CUSTARD were very helpful and managed to juggle their tables around so that they could accommodate us all. I shall not make the same mistake and book another table at any of Ricks Steins restaurants again, and I shall make sure that I give my custom to other obviously more deserving businesses.

i went to this restaurant over the may day bank holiday with my friend, after getting the water ferry over from Rock to Padstow, we were looking forward to our meal.
i had skate goujons and chips, very 'posh' version of fish and chips.
price was moderate and service was quick. i would definitely recommend this spot!

The cheapest of Rick Steins Restaurants but I think it's the best value. We enjoyed a superb three-course evening meal for £20 which is very good considering many Pubs in the area are charging outrageous prices for average food. Service was excellent. Evening bookings essential!

Lovely food, very good value for what it is, but we had really horrid and uncomfortable garden chairs. Don't let that put you off - the mussels alone were enough to make a modest amount of back pain worthwhile! A great evening out.

We visited the Cafe in early June 2006, a Monday evening when Padstow was empty, but the Cafe was full. Had the delightful mussels, my other half had the salt and pepper prawns. We both had the delicious monk fish with mango and avocado. Great combination! Followed by chocolate cake and creme brulee. Exceptional value at £20 each. Wine list a little pricey but list is a good one. If you go to Padstow you must visit the cafe. Cannot think of many places where you can get a good 3 course meal for £20. But book well in advance for dinner (gets booked up v. quickly)
