Whilst some of the food was ok, the level of service and customer care was pretty poor. We arrived for our booking in good time but there was no one on reception to greet us. We stood there for a good 10 minutes and, although the kitchen staff could clearly see us, no one thought to let 'upstairs' know we were waiting. We were only 'found' when the friends we were meeting phoned to see where we were and sent the waiter down to see us! He was very apologetic and told the kitchen staff off for not letting him know we were waiting.
Drink and food orders were taken promptly, our starters and mains came relatively quickly but they kept forgetting when we ordered more wine. However, there were only two waiting staff and one of those had only started work a few days before so couldn't tell us about the food.
A couple of us had dessert, I was initially given the wrong one - when I pointed it out to the waitress, she quickly changed it for the right one, however, it was a brulee which should have had the top torched, unfortunately she gave it to me frozen solid and it was inedible. We couldn't be bothered to complain again so asked for the bill.
When the waiter came with the bill I pointed out the dessert was inedible and he took it off the total but, bearing in mind our experience had not shown the restaurant in the best light and that we clearly were not pleased, I was quite surprised that we were not offered a complimentary drink, a further discount on the meal or some kind of incentive to come again as is usually offered in these situations. The waiter cracked a joke about buying one, getting one free but we said we thought it unlikely we could be visiting again. The waiter seemed surprised and asked why, so my husband began to tell him our reasons - half way through the waiter said 'oh' and walked off, leaving us to find our own coats and way out.
We found the experience very disappointing and, in future, will stick to Ciao Bella in Romford when we want an Italian meal as we always get excellent food and service when we go there.
