'B' Thai is the new Thai restaurant at the Brooklands County Retreat & Health Spa. This Victorian country house is situated in five acres of landscaped gardens on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, near Garstang, and has been a privately owned haven and destination spa for the last 25 years. Brooklands has 11 rooms and suites and the spa facilities include a fully equipped gym, steam room, sanarium, indoor heated pool and hydrotherapy pool. The Thai restaurant is open to guests and non-residents alike and uses fresh ingredients prepared by their own Thai chef. Brooklands also caters for weddings and corporate events. The Cartford Inn is a 17th century coaching inn nestling on the banks of the River Wyre at Little Eccleston, just 10 minutes from Blackpool. Newly refurbished in 2007, the Cartford combines traditional features with contemporary style. An open wood fire welcomes guests in the bar lounge area where you will find several cosy corners to enjoy a quiet drink. Food, from an informal snack to a three-course meal, is served throughout the lounge, alcoves and games room as well as in the first floor restaurant, "Mushrooms", for those seeking a more traditional dining experience. Jali is a first for Blackpool in that it's a fine dining Indian restaurant. The sumptuously decorated venue blends traditional and contemporary design elements and as a centrepiece has an ancient well that was uncovered during renovations. The menu, although Indian, is a far cry from your typical curry house fare. A sister restaurant in Hastings had an AA rosette, something which this award winning Blackpool restaurant has now also achieved. Jali has a fantastic private dining room that can seat 16 people, offers a takeaway service and there is also a new Signature Dishes menu available Monday to Saturday. It's ironic that this former hunting lodge (built 1856) in Barnacre, near Garstang, can be both way off the beaten track and sandwiched between two of the country's major transport arteries (the M6 and the main West Coast rail line). It's also at Bridge 54 of the Lancaster Canal if you fancy a stroll. When you do manage to find the Kenlis Arms, you can expect home-cooked pub food, a roaring log fire in winter, a kids' outside play area and a covered and raised patio where you can eat and drink al fresco. Signature dishes include Lancashire stuffed garlic mushrooms, steak & kidney pie and Alice's famous home-made apple pie. With its stunning sea views out over the Irish Sea, La Mezzaluna is the jewel in the crown of Cleveleys' The Venue, a striking, white, art-decoish block that sits squat and isolated on the Cleveleys seafront. Like Las Vegas emerging out of the Californian desert, it dominate the skyline as you approach and at the risk of stretching the Vegas analogy too far, it's one of the few places round these parts that can offer a Vegas-style range of activities under on roof - pub, live music, nightclub and two restaurants. Plenty of restaurants have stayed the course but few - if any - can boast a 45-year-plus pedigree. The restaurant was founded in 1961 and this award-winning Blackpool institution is still going strong. A sign of the esteem in which the Mandarin is held is that taxi drivers and hoteliers invariably recommend it to visitors to the town. It's also a got very loyal local customer base, due in no short measure to the top quality service and food. The Mandarin @ Lytham is the second restaurant for Blackpool's famous Mandarin. The original has been going strong since 1961 but the new Mandarin is the brainchild of the present owner who has brought a new vibrancy to a very successful Chinese restaurant. The Mandarin @ Lytham is opposite Pizza Express and the square right in the heart of the town. The entrance is at ground level with the restaurant on the first floor. The interior has been painstakingly put together using original furnishings from 1930s Shanghai sourced direct from China. Expect traditional mahogany and marble tables, chinoiserie wallpaper and carved chopsticks. Pisces Fish & Chip Restaurant has been open since 1997. This modern and vibrant venue prides itself on its chunky fish and quality batter. Diners travel to Fleetwood from far and wide to eat here and one of the reasons is that it's great value - haddock chips peas, bread and butter & a pot of tea is just £5.99. Toast is a café bar and grill restaurant on Blackpool's Corporation Street housed in a former bank building situated close to the Grand Theatre and the Winter Gardens but away from the hustle and bustle of the Queen Street nightlife. Owner Riccy Caunce is passionate about rejuvenating the town centre and this chic and contemporary venue has exposed brick walls, laminated floors, modern art and space for 90 diners over two floors -- plus outside seating when weather permits. During the day, the kitchen serves a café menu with all-day breakfasts, sandwiches, home-made burgers, light bites and a selection of main meals. Then after 5pm the candles come out and things step up a gear with an a la carte menu based on fresh, locally sourced produce. Dating back to 1782, Ye Horns Inn at Goosnargh is a lovely atmospheric old pub with original beams, open fire, five dining rooms spread over two floors, six ensuite bedroons and a unique bar behind which you can eat. It's a very traditional British menu here with hearty roasts, pies and game to the fore. Roast Goosnargh duckling, slow roasted and served crisp with apple sauce, is the signature dish.
