19 Alexandria Drive, St. Annes-On-Sea, FY8 1JF - 0871 811 5037

St. Annes used to lack a Thai restaurant but no more. Banthai, located on Alexandria Drive between the prom and Clifton Drive, boasts traditional decor and waitresses decked out in authentic Thai garb. Banthai literally means 'Thai House' and this is the theme of the restaurant with lots of light wood -- part of which is a Thai-style canopy over the bar -- and a variety of Thai artefacts on the walls. Other nice touches include the staff in traditional Thai costume, elegant Thai cutlery, linen tablecloths and napkins, and the exotic Thai birds on the wall. Open every evening except Sundays, this is a little gem of a restaurant that's worth searching out.

Mews Thai enjoys a delightful location on a quiet alleyway right behind Poulton's parish church. This former cafe was one of the Fylde Coast's first Thai restaurants and opened back in 1998 after the owner returned from 12 years living and working in Asia. An upstairs extension was added in 2001 and today Mews Thai can accommodate 40 diners on each floor with a bar on each and an outside balcony for smokers. The most popular tables are upstairs with traditonal Thai-style low-level seating, large windows and a great view out over the churchyard. Mews Thai is open every evening except Mondays and parking is free on street after 6pm.

Thai food fans are catered to in this self-styled 'oriental noodle bar'. It's minimalist in style with wooden floors and plenty of light and space, avoiding the clutter which often bedevils ethnic restaurants. At ground level, there's a funky modern bar filled with Thai artefacts including the large elephants at the entrance. A huge staircase takes you up to the restaurant proper which is fitted out in similar style. Open for lunch and dinner right through from 11.30am to 11pm every day (except Tuesday) with last orders in the bar at 12.30am. Wah Wahs is a great bet for a quick spicy food fix.
