Bosco means ‘small forest’ in Italian and this should provide an indication of the type of cuisine this Lytham restaurant serves. It has a fantastic location in the heart of Clifton Square with huge bay windows that overlook both the square and the high street. The venue is bright and airy and has a modern ambience and at the back of the restaurant is an open kitchen with a stone-bake wood-burning oven. Currently the only one in Lytham, it gives their pizzas and bakes a lovely flavour. The signature starter is the Gamberi Diavola (king prawns and chilli garlic) and for mains the thin-crust Rustica pizza is popular which comes with any topping you wish from the menu. Bosco also do a Lytham Square pizza which, as you may have guessed, is square and every time you buy one they contribute 25p to Lytham in Bloom. Bosco is open from 10am until 11pm every day and also has live jazz once a week.

The Mandarin @ Lytham is the second restaurant for Blackpool’s famous Mandarin. The original has been going strong since 1961 but the new Mandarin is the brainchild of the present owner who has brought a new vibrancy to a very successful Chinese restaurant. The Mandarin @ Lytham is opposite Pizza Express and the square right in the heart of the town. The entrance is at ground level with the restaurant on the first floor. The interior has been painstakingly put together using original furnishings from 1930s Shanghai sourced direct from China. Expect traditional mahogany and marble tables, chinoiserie wallpaper and carved chopsticks. This is an exciting new addition to Lytham’s burgeoning dining scene and takes the Mandarin very much into the 21st century.Awards | Taste Lancashire
