An ancient coaching inn by the old toll bridge over the River Wyre. Recently refurbished and extended and run with real Gallic flair.

A 17th century coaching inn nestling on the bank of the River Wyre at Little Eccleston, the Cartford Inn is just 10 minutes from Blackpool and five from both the M55 motorway and Poulton-le-Fylde train station. After an extensive refurbishment of this Fylde Coast landmark in 2007, Julie and Patrick Beaume have established a strong reputation for providing excellent food and service to both their restaurant and hotel guests as well as offering a unique ambiance where a warm welcome is always assured. In the summer of 2011, a new extension was unveiled comprising additional bedrooms, new kitchen facilities and a new dining room overlooking the River Wyre. The Cartford Inn now offers 14 stunning ensuite bedrooms, all individually designed and with river views. The bar and restaurant combines traditional features with contemporary style with an open fire and several cosy corners and alcoves. There is also a charming beer garden overlooking the stunning views of the river and the surrounding countryside with Beacon fell and the Trough of Bowland as a backdrop. The Cartford Inn has now been listed in both the Michelin Pub Guide and the Good Food Guide for the last few years. Book a room online now.

Superb meal and service for our group of ten, on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Even though they were very busy there was no downgrade of food or service. Highly recommended. Ros Visited on a recommendation and after reading the reviews on Sugarvine for a friend's birthday last Saturday. We were not disappointed!! There were seven of us including 3 children and there was something for everyone. The starter of ham and pea casserole with black pudding fritters was excellent, presented in a very quirky way and very tasty. Everyone thoroughly emjoyed the food. There was good ale to be had too, a couple of pints of Moorhouses Pride of Pendle hit the spot! Service was very good also, Oscar, our waiter was very efficient and friendly. Overall a very good lunch was had and we have already discussed a return trip!! Highly recommended to all. samj Not often I have three (savoury) courses, other than at a formal dinner, but the specials at the Cartford last week were unmissable. Watercress soup, Mountain hare and mushroom tagliatelli and then Poached place with Hollandaise sauce. All washed down with a lovely Albarino. Throw in the views of the Wyre and the fells beyond as twilight set in and a great atmosphere and I reckon you’ve got one of the best dining experiences in the area. Trish Surprisingly have never eaten here before though I have lived in the Fylde. What a pleasant surprise, we loved our Sunday lunch by the river in beautiful surroundings. Andy Visited recently for a leisurely Saturday lunch and was most impressed. The view out over the River Wyre and beyond from the large picture windows is a delight and I was pleased to see the menu had changed (not that there was anything wrong with the old one). Good food accompanied by a nice bottle of claret. Bliss. Ros
