The Clog & Billycock at Pleasington is the third gastropub venture for Nigel Haworth and Craig Bancroft of Michelin-starred Northcote. Refurbished to the tune of £1.3 million, it’s one of four Ribble Valley Inns with other properties at The Three Fishes at Mitton, near Whalley, The Highwayman at Burrow, near Kirkby Lonsdale and the latest venture The Bull at Broughton, near Skipton. The Clog & Billycock has a beautiful rural setting but is within easy reach of Blackburn, Bolton and Chorley. It has room for 150 diners and you can expect the same emphasis on freshness, quality and regionality with an impressive list of local farmers, suppliers and producers. Bookings are accepted for any number, lunch or dinner. A gluten-free menu is also available now. If you’re looking for the perfect gift for the foodie, the Obsession Cook Book features more than 100 recipes from the 50 chefs that have cooked at Northcote’s Obsession Food & Drink Festival over the last 10 years. Call 01254 201163 Available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday Great cheese and onion pie. Perfect pastry with a rich and delicious inside. Nicely matched with a crisp salad. Good service in very pleasant surroundings too. The wifi allowed a good business meeting and lunch combo! C First time at the Clog & Billycock. Busy Sunday lunch and although we didn’t arrive until the back of two it was still pretty hectic. Didn’t need to wait long to get seated though and the young staff were friendly and efficient, despite the number of people there. Wife was gutted that Fish Pie wasn’t on the menu but she went for the Lancashire hotpot instead and was suitably mollified. I had the braised venison which hit the spot just right for a bracing Sunday in November. Nice pint of Thwaites Original too. I don’t think the interior is quite as appealing as their other place near Whalley, the Three Fishes, but that’s a minor quibble. Harry just excellent nothing fancy just simple but delicious dishes using the very best local produce. dont be put off by the prices you are paying for quality mark c went 12th Feb for my birthday ( 20 of us). we as a family go nearly every week, always a good night and would recommend to everyone. Michael Toole We absolutely love the Clog & Billycock and have been several times now. The food is superb, the staff brilliant and the atmosphere is always buzzing. Penny
