I've been lucky enough to visit the Russian Restaurant twice now - and intend to do so as many times as I possibly can in the future!

It is hard to leave comments that do this gem of a place justice - Vlad it a warm, friendly, welcoming and genuine host; the menu is extensive and interesting; the quality of the food can not be faulted - fresh, high quality ingredients that are cooked to perfection.

This is the perfect venue to enjoy a wonderfully relaxed meal and overall experience with friends, family, or anyone and, having devoured a feast, the bill still always seems to come to far less than expected.

Avoid the generic, try somewhere new, unique and truly awesome - drop Vlad an email or a call and visit the Russian Restaurant, I'm certain you will not be disappointed.

Superb food, good value and friendly service - I had been intending to visit for a while and, now I have, I will certainly be back again.

The Russian Restaurant was an experience I will visit again and again and recommend everyone to visit . The service was warm welcoming, the food was one of a kind and the price was really reasonable.

The starter I had was pancakes with mushrooms, which was absolutely gorgeous, The main I had was minced chicken turnover which just melted in your mouth it was so soft and complimented the mushroom sauce, the dessert I had was almond tart with cream and ice cream and decorated with chocolate sauce which was a star, a really nice touch. Every dish was presented beautifully. I would recommend to everybody 10/10 Thank you.

My husband and I live just across the road from the Russian Restaurant and have been in quite a few times. The food is always fantastic, and the hospitality is great!
It really is a little bit of Russia in Bradford. There is a wide range of options on the menu, so there is something for everyone. The restaurant is very clean and always has a nice atmosphere. It it somewhere you can take a break from the hustle and bustle of life, and sit back and enjoy.
Highly recommended!

A week away in Bradford is a long time if you have to eat out. The Russian Restaurant is the ideal antidote for those who want a break from curry. A thoroughly authentic experience awaits those who make the journey to this atmospheric semi basement. A varied menu of standard Russian staples, hearty soups, pancakes, strogonoffs and Goulash are well executed and can be washed down with Latvian beer and a wide selection of Vodkas. Well worth the visit.

We had a very pleasant evening. The menu was varied and interesting; our host was charming and attentive; and most importantly, the food was delicious. We will definitely return.

If you think Russian cuisine is gonna be endless boiled cabbage and potatoes, think again. There's some really good stuff on offer here - all cooked from scratch and hearty portions too, making it great value for money. The owner - Vlad - was an exceptional host and made it a memorable evening. Highly recommended.

Having searched for great authentic restaurants in and around Yorkshire and been let down by everyone so far on customer service, what a breath of fresh air to find The Russian Restaurant.

We were greeted by Vlad and once we told him of our quest to sample authentic dishes from around the world he was only too happy to make our evening memorable. He took the menus off of us and we left it up to him.

Wow! Every dish truly amazing. The soup, the pancakes, the goulash and dessert were all perfect.

If you are looking for a new place to try, go and meet Vlad. We wish him well and he well deserves the reviews written about his Russian Restaurant.

I have never tried Russian food before so did not know what to expect. The food was absolutely delicious, really hearty and filling. The cherry vodka was excellent, and the service spot on.

Bradford's best and most individual restaurant - excellent cooking and vodka list, very friendly helpful service and reasonable prices too.

Being a Russia person myself I was sceptical before going to this restaurant as you can never expect to get something close to what you had back there... To my surprise and joy food was AMAZING and felt just like home. Recommend to anyone

Very very nice, never had Russian before but would go back again

Today my family with my friends went to the Russian restaurant. We found a restaurant to have a convivial atmosphere. The menu was excellent and wide experience of Russian cuisine as well. When the food arrived it was in a very tasteful style and delightful to eat. We had a thoroughly good time and we'll come back as soon as we can arrange it and we'll recommend all our friends to indulge in this pleasure.

Four of use went for a meal at the Russian restaurant on Sat 13 Sept 08, we had a lovely evening the food was excellent the staff were so friendly and eager to please, there was live music but not so loud that you could not have polite conversation.
PS the beer and extensive range of vodka was also excellent.
Thank you so much Vlad.

Last evening, my daughter and I visited the Restaurant for the first time. We were most impressed by the variety and quality of the food. The service was as helpful as it was good-humoured. The House Red (a full litre of Merlot) was full-bodied and smooth. It complemented well whatever we ate from the outstanding caviar pancakes and herring salad starters to the main courses Shashlik and Kotleta. The portions were generous and we were not able to sample any of the "heavier" sweet courses, but shared an ice cream and walnut concoction which was laced with something very Russian, very strong and absolutely fabulous.
I cannot wait for a return visit and to introduce all our friends to this wonderfully different culnary experience.

I have been passed the place a few times and have said we must try it, well tonight I did and wow what a place, food A+ service A+ and the cost was £65 for three well all left stuffed. I for one will be going again. To the staff thanks for a good evening.

We've spent two weeks in Bradford being on business trip. Bradford is a beautiful place with its magnificent buildings.
We tried nearly every cuisine available in the town and found the Russians Restaurant is the best. In all respects. You are getting warmest welcome and service from the owners and absolutely delicious food. We visited the place four times and tried as much as we can. Tomorrow we are heading to Nice. Vlad, do you have a restaurant over there?

I went to this restaurant yesterday with my friend. This was the first time we had Russian food. Food is fantastic and service is excellent. The owner is very friendly. I kept telling my husband how delicious the food was and I have decided to bring him there on his birthday.

Guaranteed warm welcome in this lovely friendly place. It is family run and the good is great and plentiful - I always end up taking some home for later. Small wine list but very reasonable. The vodka list - which you would expect in Russia - is very extensive however! So nice to have such different cuisine in Bradford for a change too.

We visited this restaurant with some good friends from Worcester. The host was very attentive and friendly and genuinely welcomed us. The food was awesome, very different, pickles and pancakes, we chose a selection to pick from. Main courses were freshly cooked and very very tasty. I had Shashlik but my fellow diners had Golubtsi and Goulash, all of which were delicious. The wine was Italian and served in 1 litre bottles. We will be visiting again soon. Highly recommended.

Ive finally been to The Russian Restaurant - fantastic! I've been to Erebuni and Trojka in London, St Petersburg in Liverpool and the Armenian in Manchester. But this one beats them all, food and service were fantastic, and the prices - amazing - they could have have charged double and I'd have happily paid it!
Highly recommended!

I had been to this place when it was in the back room of the Peel Pub and was impressed enough to try out their new venue. Again it was well worth the visit. My solyanka was excellent and, while I found the tchakhohbili a little rich, it was perfectly cooked. Others at my table raved about the stuffed pancakes, the goulash and the stroganoff. Highly recommended.

My family of 4 dines here on Dec. 5th, after my daughter's graduation from University. She and her boyfriend had been here before, my wife and I had not. (We're from near San Francisco) Though my wife and I had traveled in both Moscow and St. Petersburg, nowhere did we find a more wonderful meal. Around the table we had chicken Tabaka, chicken fillets with prunes and walnuts, pork fillet with veg, and mushroom stroganoff. They were all just wonderful! I must admit, the pork I had was so tender and juicy, I could cut it with my fork! Rarely have we been treated with so much respect and hospitality.... a simply superior dining experience! (and the Iceberg Dessert was super!)We will come back as often as we can.... thank you, Vlad!

Ate at the Russian Restaurant with two friends last night. The food was fresh and delicious. The house red was perfect with the beef goulash. We started our meal the Russian way with an ice cold frozen Russian vodka and pickles! We especially enjoyed our host, Vlad, who made us feel like guests in his home rather than just customers. A GREAT night out.

Very enjoyable meal for a party of four. We were made to feel very welcome and cannot but praise the staff for their help and friendliness. The restaurant was busy but the service & food were faultless.

Went to the restaurant last night. Early door so not many customers so therefore not much atmosphere although Russian radio in the background.

Food very good and plentiful. Can recommend the chicken soup did wonders for my summer cold.

Watch out for the Russian beer very strong 5.1% and 7%. It's a place go when you are not in the car. Finished meal of with a Honey and Pepper Vodka. Will need to make more visits to try other varieties.

The first time I visited the Russian Restaurant was after a bracing winter day in the dales. It wasn't much warmer in the Restaurant when we got there, it had just opened, but the fan heater that the proprietor pointed at us warmed things up, and he chose a Russian beer for us.He was extremely friendly and was eager to recommend various dishes. The place soon started to fill and heat up and the food was hearty. The pinnacle for me was the Spatchcock which was best devoured using your hands instead of the usual eating irons.

A very welcoming host and will definitely be returning. Next time I think we might go when they have the traditional music on. Excellent and recommended.

I took my wife (a Russian national) for a wedding anniversary treat. She is not an easy lady to please. She loved it. We had excellent food, great service and an evening to remember. We will certainly be going again. We look forward to a visit when there is live music. It was very quiet the night we visited and I hope that they have every success in the venture. If your reading this, then give them a try, you wont regret your visit. If possible don't drive and enjoy the range of vodkas.

We` had never been to a Russian Restaurant before and were understandably nervous when we arrived. We` were warmly greeted and made to feel at home. The food was wonderful and not at all what we expected; the service was great and the music was amazing. We had a fabulous extremely inexpensive evening and would most certainly go back when we are in Bradford again.

Good Menu Selection - spoilt for choice.

A party of 3 ate everything - including Russian beers, vodkas AND Champagne, 3 courses+ each came to under £25 per head - the cost of lunch in Leeds! VERY modest.

Lots of Russians, Latvians and so on added to the ambience - and russian music just topped it off.....

My only observation - the decor did not feel Russian ENOUGH.....

Overall - you should visit this restaurant. Simple. GREAT :-)

We dined out on a Saturday night with the promise of live music, goulash and vodka; we were not let down. The feel of the restaurant was very much quality no nonsense food - and the menu reflected that; like being in a kitchen of a Russian home. The portions are large, and the food is wholesome. The stroganoff was full flavoured and morish and the tchakhohbili (a traditional Georgian dish) was superb. I would however advise that anyone with an aversion to garlic steer clear of the (delicious) potato and olive salad! An 'iceberg' desert and shot of vodka completed the meal and left us feeling very jolly, well fed and overall very content with our evening. The service was excellent, and the ambience was cosy and welcoming. The shabby-chic décor, coupled with the live music ( a singer doing a mixture of Russian songs and middle of the road British pop) set the atmosphere; it's the kind of place where you can go to for proper food, proper portions and a proper gossip. The three course meal cost just over £15 each - including beer, wine & vodka..Would certainly return for another visit..

After reading other recommendations for this restaurant my chap and I probably had high expectations. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was authentic with live radio playing from Moscow. The food was delicious, great flavours and portions. We visited on a Tuesday night and it was quiet although I think we have been persuaded to return on a weekend night when we were promised live entertainment! All in all this restaurant is a real good find and highly recommended.

Fantastic little find at the top end of Bradford! The food is freshly made and the portions are massive! You feel like you have stepped back in time, but this all adds to experience! A place not to be missed

Recommended by Spiky (13th February 2007)

i have been three times now ,twice at lunchtime and once with my partner in the evening. I am sorry to have missed the Russian singers and i wish they would play on Wednesdays as that is the only night our friends can all meet up. i think the menu would be even better if they included some other types of eastern European cuisine eg; pierogi, kopitka and maybe vegetarian borsch. i think the prices are a bit steep but the service and quality of food are excellent i will go back time and time again n.b be sure to book in advance as the food is made fresh and you may have to wait some time between courses Andrea

Recommended by Sandy (12th February 2007)

Me and a friend went on Saturday, the decor was very 70's a bit dated really but the food was nice. Stuffed pancakes to start followed by a stroganoff, there was no room for dessert, there was a russian band playing that night, it was all a bit surreal really. Like we had stepped back in time.

Having dined out at the new premises just a month open in Manor Row Bradford I would say with a little luck and the right publicity this restaurant will sit on the map for many years. Excellent food service and Ambience which will add to the joys of multicultural Bradford. I will be certainly going back. And my mother loved it ...Ill say no more

I predict this restaurant will go from strength to strength now that it has moved from its less salubrious previous location. The food, drinks and the welcome are fantastic. Our party of 6 ate there last night and had starters/main meals/teas/drinks and 2, yes 2 bottles of Soviet champagne and will the helpful Sugarvine printable 10% off voucher it came to £116........for 6 .......with champagne. If you yearn for something I little less ordinary this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The smoked salmon pancakes are delicious.
