We came in a party of five on a Thursday evening for a meal. The place was very busy but the kind waiter found us a table. I ordered my favourites: samosa, chick-pea cholé and naan. It was a great meal enjoyed by us all.

Five of us came on Thursday evening for a meal. One of our party was a visitor from India. We had a fabulous meal which everyone enjoyed, especially our visitor. He was here last year and was very pleased to dine again at Prashad. I am delighted that Minal is carrying on the great Prashad tradition set out by Kaushy and is introducing her own delicate stamp as well. No doubt with her talents, imagination and adventurous spirit we will see many new dishes introduced on the menu, including a vegan coconut chutney perhaps.

I was on a short visit from India to the UK last October. My hosts brought me to Prashad saying that it was the best Indian Restaurant in Bradford and that the Chef was a triple-award winning Chef, the very best in the UK. When I saw its location and its size I began to think that perhaps my hosts were exaggerating. But when my meal arrived, I realised that what they said was true. It was as if I had been transported to Mumbai, to one of the very top, vegetarian restaurant there. I had ordered a thali and the dishes were exquisite. I am once again on a short visit and my hosts brought me to Prashad for dinner. Of course, I remembered the thali and ordered it again. Lo and behold, it was as perfect as it was on the last occasion, if not better. A great meal and a great evening out. Thank you to everyone at Prashad.

Five of us came on Thursday evening for a meal. We learnt that Kaushy, Prashad's renowned, award-winning Chef was now taking a back seat and giving Minal, her young daughter-in-law the reins of the kitchen. We needn't have worried, because Kaushy has passed on all of her unique magical culinary skills to Minal, who with her own undoubted talents, enterprise and enthusiasm has not only continued to maintain the very high standard and reputation that Prashad has gained over the years but added her own unique style to the dishes on offer and to the general ambience and welcoming atmosphere to this gem of a restaurant. It was a pleasure to dine here which we all enjoyed thoroughly. A huge thank you to everyone at Prashad.

Every time I go to Prashad it has never disappointed me. Their passion for food and excellent service makes me want to come back again and again. It is a hidden jewel.

Prashad has merged very unique flavours to produce a vast array of contrasting flavours, producing a menu full of tantalising tastes that will make every mouth salivate in approval. Food at Prashad justifies true colours of Indian cuisine.

Small, cosy restaurant, serving excellent vegetarian food. The food is spicy but not hot and the menu is more unusual than most run of the mill Indian restaurants. The service is excellent and the food arrives quickly. I would certainly go again.

To find a good Indian restaurant is rare...but to find a good one that serves excellent vegetarian food is even rarer. However, Prashad is that rare vegetarian restaurant, which goes that bit further . The food is authentic with a clever twist on things, which I / we like. My family and I are so pleased with Prashad's food that we have booked them to cater for our wedding blessing. Simply put...Prashad is awesome!

I have been dining in Prashad for many years now and always look forward to eating there again. The main reasons why I return back again and again are they are Excellent Service, Vegetarian and Homely food. Most of the starters are excellent, we tend to fill our stomach by eating more starters. Excellent choice of road side snack items and main dishes. Rotli's are excellent. Carrot Halwa with icecream and Falooda are simply too good. I also end up buying sweets/snacks for home, from the savouries shop in the front.

This really is a hidden gem. The food is unique and I guarantee you will be bowled over by the immense flavours. The service is very friendly and welcoming and this leads to a relaxed atmosphere. There is a wide variety of options on the menu and you will never be at a loose end over which dish to choose.
This is quite simply the best Indian restaurant I have eaten in.

Delicious food, excellent service and delightful experience. I cannot help but write a review of our lovely time there. The place is cozy, family run and has a warm welcoming feel to it. For starters we ordered dhokla and dahi puri. The texture, taste, spices and presentation were all immaculate. For mains we ordered chole and masala dossa. Both the dishes definitely had the wow factor. We finished it off with masala chai. The waiters were courteous and helpful. The place is clean. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone who would like to taste the authentic Indian meal.

I have been dining at prashad for yrs and have really enjoyed their growth. I can honestly say that almost everything on the menu has been my favourite at some time. The food here is exquisite and having just recently found this review site, I am not surprised to read all the amazing comments. When I am in need of real indian food, prashad is where my heart takes me.

A very welcoming vegetarian restaurant with really excellent food that is freshly cooked and has lots of flavour without the high fat content that you often get in Indian restaurants.
It really is different - give it a try!

I was taken to Prashad's two weeks ago, as soon as I was fit enough to stand after major surgery. My partner had gone on three consecutive nights after visiting me in hospital. It really is a fabulous eating experience. Neither of us is veggie, and frankly as a committed carnivore I was sceptical. The food and service are both fantastic and very reasonably priced. I recommended to my sister and nephew who are visiting from Scotland to go too and they went Tuesday. All four of us went again last night. It really is a fabulous, tasty eating experience.

"Prashad is amazing because it has combined 'Shudh & Satvik' [pure and healthy] philosophy contained in the Ayurveda section of the Vedas, the ancient most wisdom of the Human Race. Ayurveda emphasises Vegetarian meals from health, compassionate and eco-friendly mode of nourishment to sustain a balanced planet. The herbs and Spices used in vegetarian cooking have some form of medicinal benefit or other. The medical fraternity is aware of these benefits and are racing to do more research so that we can benefit holistically from the use of these magical and natural products.

Kaushy & Minal have blended these herbs and spices in their cooking at Prashad delicately and brilliantly to give us a vegetarian cuisine which is all combined together ie. tasty, pure and healthy. Typically Gujarati and Indian, and yet simple."

We have been eating at Prashad for a number of years & each time we eat there it is a most amazing experience of truly fantastic Indian food. I could recommend a number of dishes but now having worked my way through 90% of the menu there is not a dish that I wouldn't recommend to my best friend, so I encourage you most sincerely to explore this haven of culinary delight.

In addition to the fabulous food I must complement the impeccable service provided by the most friendly people. You are made to feel like good friends calling into their home. I really love telling the staff how much I have enjoyed their food because their faces always light up with a most sincere broad smile. There is great pride taken by all who work there to ensure their customers have a most enjoyable experience.

An added bonus is the helpings which are generous plus it is very affordable. Oh yeah by the way..... its totally vegetarian with many vegan & special diets catered for. Although a veggie myself, so this place is a true dining heaven experience I have taken many non-vegetarians who have since raved about the place as much as I.......thanks so much Prashad, this is the BEST EVER eating experience I have had which I keep repeating repeating repeating

On somewhat of a whim, I decided that I wanted to go to Prashad for my birthday. So after finishing work in Huddersfield, I caught the train to Bradford, met up with my wife and we headed on over to Prashad.

Being a vegan for over half of my life, I was very excited by the range of food available to me, but this was overshadowed by how stunningly gorgeous it was. Words cannot do it justice, you simply have to taste it to understand!

The Hara Bara Kebab, divine, the Rhenghan Bhajia, unbelievable! It just got better the further I went in to the menu! My wife had a Paneer-based dish, and she could not enough either.

After we got home today, we both commented on how it was a shame that we lived in Leeds, because we wanted to just get back to Prashad immediately. We will be be back, and very soon!

Lovely little place tucked out of the way. Healthy and tasty vegetarian food. The mixed starter was to die for, Next we had Masala Dosa and zuccini and dhal curry plus rice and naan. Although the Dosa was tasty it was a North Indian slant on a South Indian dish - the Sambar was reminiscent of Rasam (thin spicy soup) and the coconut chutney was sweet - almost like dessicated coconut in yoghurt. The mango lassi was lovely and the whole meal for 2 was less that £30. Just a shame it didn't quite reach the authenticiy with the dosa.

Last week my family and I came for just a snack at this quiet joint. Not knowing what we should order, being spoilt for choice, we were given a wonderful run through by Minal, the daughter -in - law, of the new items such as mushroom bhajias in rich batter, Gujarati street snacks and why we should eat steamed dhokras as a health item. All in an untiring and enthusiastic manner, fresh superlatives, just as the ingredients, and we ended up with a sumptuous meal of varied and many items. Really were made to feel welcome - just as my mama would do so and serve me. I cannot stop not coming here, it is infectious.

We visited the Prashad as a party of five on the eve of my wife's birthday. I have been to quite a lot of similar establishments in my life and I can honestly say the food here was some of the best of its type I have ever eaten. I realised we were going to be in for a treat when the pickle tray arrived, and the poppadoms were very cleverly done in the shape of flowers! But it was about much more than visual presentation. When I tasted the lime and chilli pickle, I realised that they had done something to the limes to pre-cook or soften them, so you don't get that chewy lump of lime in the chilli sauce like you do in some other places. The pickles were obviously individually made instead of being spooned out of catering tins, as well.

This sort of attention to detail was also manifest in the rest of the food. For starter I had the sliced aubergine dish, fried in some kind of batter, and again I was actively surprised by the subtlety of the flavours. My main was a black eyed bean curry which I can say was truly excellent, over perfectly cooked pilau rice.

We had originally booked there because my wife is vegan and had been searching on the net for likely establishments for her birthday meal. I myself am vegetarian, and the remainder of our party are normally carnivores, but nobody expressed any regret at not having meat, all of the dishes we ordered were received and devoured by us with enthusiasm.

My wife had the lentil and zucchini dish, and others in our party had the Vegetable Handi, Chole, and the Hara Bara Burger.

The restaurant itself is basic and unpretentious, quite small, with one mirrored wall, but then you don't need flocked wallpaper, rubber plants and pictures of Rajahs riding elephants when you can cook like that. If you are the sort of person who wants a really hot curry that will knock your socks off and bring you out in a sweat, you would probably still enjoy the Prashad, but truly, I recommend going there for the subtlety and the variety of the food. I daresay if you did want them to make you the sort of curry that takes the top of your head off, they could do that too. In fact many of their dishes and sauces are "slow burners" that creep up on you!

Parking is on street outside, we managed to park just across the road. Access is via three relatively shallow steps, I managed with my bad knee to negotiate it both ways, with the assistance of my companions, though the staff were more than willing to help.

First visited Prashad about 15 years ago before I moved away from Yorkshire. Popped in over Easter on our way to Saltaire and we were blown away by the amazing food and service on offer here. Over the years I've eaten in many wonderful curryhouses but this really is the best. Their Dosa's are simply amazing (better than the ones I've had recently at Lasan in Birmingham), the special chaat was incredible, the Mango Lassi was again wonderful....I could go on.

Great restaurant, great service and great prices. Couldn't recommend enough

My first visit to prashad was like being transported back to my 8 years working in INDIA I was like a kid in sweet shop with a £10 note, where to start..
The the starters we superb the mains all looked marvelous and the sweets well very sweet yum
For something a bit different try the masala dosa or the idli Samba then the sweet gulab jaman to take away the hot spice of previous dishes all typical south indian

Mother's Day. We make it a point to come here to celebrate. Minal had put on a special Mother's Day Platter: Paneer Pakoras but being vegan we opted for the aubergine fritters instead; spinach and potato bondas; special vegetable samosas and baby spring rolls. We had a masala dosa and Kaushy's famous chick-pea chole with puris. The sambar was pure ambrosia! It was truly a meal to savour.

It was our wedding anniversary yesterday and when deciding where to go for a meal Prashad was top of the list.
Wow!!!! just like previous visits to this fantastic restaurant we sampled great tasting food (working our way through the entire menu) and our hosts the Patel brothers were on their usual top form making us feel very welcome.
They even surprised us with a complimentary desert (Indian carrot cake and ice cream) and it was delicious -thank you very much.
We have a 30 mile round trip to eat at Prashad and said that if it was around the corner from our house we would be there every day.

I would recommend Prashads to anyone interested in an authentic and mouthwatering experience.

COOKING WITH KAUSHY: I had a great birthday when Kaushy Patel of the Prashad taught me how to cook a Gujerati family feast in my own home. Kaushy was a lovely teacher, the menu was excellent and my family thoroughly enjoyed their special feast. And there was more. I have my own spice tray and utensils to keep and Kaushy left me with sufficient ingredients to cook the meal again. Brilliant.

I love the Prashad. I was born and bred in Bradford so (rightly) believe that my city has the best curry houses in Britain. And yes I've tried Brick Lane and the curry mile in Manchester... Fine in their way but if you want the best come to Bradford. And if you want the best of the best go to the Prashad. The fact that this is veggie heaven is irrelevant. The meat eaters I have been with have never come away saying 'ooh I did miss my chicken tikka they come out going 'wow'. This is because the food here is cooked with love. You can tell when you eat it! Fantastic flavours and great value. 3 of us went out on Tuesday night this week and we left full up to our chins having spent under a tenner each! And while I'm getting all giddy I might as well mention the service. It's great. Not because it's particularly polished. It isn't. The waiters haven't been on a course on how to deliver good service. It's great because the guys are just nice people being friendly and considerate. If you want to eat excellent food in a non pretentious friendly atmosphere shout hurrah for the Prashad and get yourselves down.

Valentine's Day and there cannot be better place to celebrate it than here at Prashad. Obviously all the other couples thought so too as the place was busy with customers. Bobby was extremely kind to us to find us a table even though we had not booked in advance. Prashad's culinary genius, Minal had created a most imaginative menu with starters of Steamed Bataka Puri, Vegetable Cutlets, Steamed Rava Idli, Sesame Parcels, and mouth-watering desserts of Coconut Barfi, Ladoo and Coco-Penda, (lovingly shaped into hearts!). These with our choices of Masala Dosa, Bindi Curry and Puris from their standard menu made it a great romantic meal and an evening to savour.

Good service but above all the food is varied, flavoursome and something different. This is a restaurant that many may overlook for the more well known Bradford South Asian eateries. Such lack of adventure is their loss however as this is an eating experience not to be missed. Wonderful food, generous portions. Go there.

Prashad keep on threatening me to serve "MITHEE ROTLI" or "VENVI" every time I visit it. MITHEE ROTLI is a most delicious Gujarati meal served with Kadhi and broken lentil dish, and Prashad serves one that is absolutely delicious. The only hindrance is my wife, who is worried that I will be spoilt by Prashad's cooking. BEWARE the rest of you.

My wife and I have now eaten twice at Prashad and can't praise the Patel family enough for the fantastic choice of excellent tasting vegetarian cuisine.
The special thali's and massala dosa's are a must and great value for money.
To add to the atmosphere of this small restaurant is the excellent choice of music played.

We had a most entertaining evening dining on the special Christmas Meal devised ingeniously by Minal. It was a complete three-course meal with starters of Poppadum Flower, Bataka Bread wada and a mixed vegetable ring; a main course of three different curries and a delicious dhal served with puris and a very tasty vegetable rice and a mouth-watering, sweet ball.

We dined here a couple of weeks ago and had a lovely evening catching up over an excellent meal. Prashad is unique amongst the huge range of curry houses on offer in Bradford. Its entirely veggie menu is delicious and everything we had tasted really fresh and genuinely homemade, unlike lots of other places we've eaten. We ate here on a busy Saturday evening and the place was packed, with lots of customers obviously regular diners which is no wonder as the food is so delicious. Its a small place with professional, friendly service from members of the family who own the place, which all makes for a really intimate dining experience . Prashad is a little bit off the beaten track but worth making a detour from Bradford's bright lights every time - I would not hesitate to recommend it and we will go again!

we had a very nice meal this afternoon at the Prashad. We are from Sheffield and called in on our way back from Salts Mill. Sheffield has very little to offer compared to the authentic menu we sampled today in Bradford. Nice people serving great food! The little shop attached was great too - we took home a few savoury delights for our work lunch tomorrow. we will be back!

I am not a vegetarian. I came here with four friends. Although it was a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was very busy. Not being used to the menu, my friends suggested that I try the Special Thali as it would give me an introduction to a complete Indian vegetarian meal. It was a very good choice as it consisted of a starter, a main meal and a dessert. The aubergine fritter was a revelation to me. The main meal consisted of two different curries served with a lentil-flavoured rice. The dessert was a mouth-tingling yogurt dish. I hadn't realised that Indian Vegetarian Cuisine could be so varied and imaginative. The best part was that the cost of the meal was very reasonable. I shall certainly be back here again to dine. I am planning a visit to South India early next year and now that I am introduced to Indian Vegetarian cooking I shall certainly look forward to sampling more Indian vegetarian dishes. Thank you Prashad for a most enjoyable evening.

I've visited Prashad for a number of years now (following a recommendation an Indian couple I was selling to) from it's early days with it's tiny seating area to now. I have never in all that time been disappointed with the food and the service is excellent. In particular the special chaat is great for a delicious light meal and the thallis are outstanding, Massalla Dosa is another favourite, I could go on and on. Having visited India a number of times this is one of the very few places where I've had such authentic food ( others are Rani's and and Rasa's both in London and the Vegetable Pot in Nottingham although I'm not sure it's still there.). For a really great meal I've yet to find another Indian restaurant in West Yorkshire to compare no wonder it's so highly rated. Thanks to all at Prashad's

We dined at Prashad last evening and had a superb meal - rengan bhajias (aubergine fritters); idli sambar (rice cakes served with a unique lentil dish); bhinda (spicy ladies fingers [one of Kaushy Patel's speciality]); and puris. With such outstanding cooking we are not surprised that Prashad keeps maintaining its unique place in the Which Good Food Guide. Bradford Council ought to place this unique restaurant in a most prominent position in its bid to obtain the status of being voted as the European City of Culture. Very few other cities could equal such culinary magic as shown by Kaushy and Minal.

We brought our niece and her husband to the best restaurant in Bradford. When we arrived we found every table occupied! However, Bobby was a real angel. He smiled and very calmly assured us that if we waited awhile he would find us a table. Sure enough, a table was found for us and we had a most enjoyable meal which delighted our young relatives. Bobby, the fame of Prashad is spreading far and wide. Prashad will need to move into bigger premises. How about taking over the empty Odeon building in the centre of Bradford? Then Prashad could be the twin jewel in Bradford's crown next to the Alhambra.

We came here for dinner here on Friday evening. Unfortunately, I forgot to book ahead. We found the place heaving with diners. Bobby very kindly said that he would find a table for us if we waited a little while. It had been raining cats and dogs all day. We had told my niece and her husband that Prashad is the best restaurant in Bradford. They both agreed with us. It was the best food they had eaten for a very long time. So thank you, Prashad for your warm hospitality despite the wet weather outside.

My wife's relatives brought us here for dinner. The place was packed and I am not surprised. This place is unique and I suppose a lot of people know about it. I had Sweet Lassi, Bhel Supreme, Chole and Puris. It was just like being in India. Any chance of opening a branch in Texas?

Although originally from Mumbai, we are now living in Texas, USA. We are visiting my uncle and aunt in Shipley. He told us that he wanted to take us to the best restaurant in Bradford. He is absolutely right. The Faluda was one of the best I have tasted. The Dahi Puri reminded me of the snacks I used to have on Santa Cruz beach. The Chole and Puri were exquisite! I was told about Kaushy Patel winning all those awards for Best Chef and I am not surprised. Kaushy, please will you come to Texas and teach me your incomparable gift of cooking?

Recommended by C & A (28th June 2009)

Coming for a meal at Prashad is like coming home to a meal cooked by your mum. We suppose it should not come as a surprise for Kaushy is the archetypal mum, hardworking, always cheerful and smiling, with an astonishing repertoire of culinary recipes at her fingertips, an encyclopedic knowledge of the art of cookery and possessing the intricate skills to produce unbelievably delicious end results. Today's meal was a meal to travel miles for: the rengan bhajias were mouth-wateringly moreish, the bhel reminded us of happy days spent at the Mumbai seaside, the utthapam was exceptionally fluffy and soft, the chickpea chole was simply superb. It won't be long before we are back for a meal again.

We were at a public lecture organised by the Theosophical Society in Bradford on 'Vedic Astrology,' this afternoon. So we decided to come her fopr dinner: rengan bhajia, bhel supreme, idli sambar, bataka wada and nan. The weather has been glorious all day, the lecture was brilliant and the food here was simply superb. All in all, it was a wonderful combination towaards a perfeect day. Yesterday Bobby and Minal Patel were interviewed in a programme on BBC Radio 4 about the Patel clan in this country. So the fame of Bradford's little gem, the Prashad will now be known across the country. The Patel family and Prashad are a great credit to Bradford for which it is rightly proud.

Visited this establishment on May 23rd 2009 (lunch time) with my Wife and two year old daughter,
We didn't know anyone who has been before but read about it on the Internet and myself being a vegetarian for almost 40 years thought it looked interesting.
Found it straight away despite the fact that we live the other side of Huddersfield and don't know Bradford too well.
Interior was nice and seating very comfy, plenty of room at the tables.
Lovely menu so much to choose from, having limited time (our daughter has a short attention span) we opted for a pickle tray and poppadoms while we waited for our main courses which were Tarka dal and a panner dish, the food was superb, i am very critical about food as my Wife is a great cook and i often find that her cooking is better than many restaurants we visit - this was not the case at Prashad and my Wife said it was far better than anything she could do.
Would we go again - yes, would we recommend it to family and friends - yes
Food was ten out of ten for us and friendliness of staff including the chef was ten out of ten, everyone seemed so genuine and concerned that we were happy with food and service, and they made an extra special effort with my two year old daughter.
Do we have anything to complain about ? - yes - why don't they have one in Huddersfield !

We had been to Bolton, Lancashire in the afternoon. On our return the car seemed to find its way to Prashad almost instinctively! So naturally, we had dinner here of Bataka Wada, Pani Puri, Utthapam, Rengan and Peas , and Kichdi. Kaushy's brilliant cooking was like a royal welcome banquet
laid out specially for us.

My first time at Prashad, found the food amazing. The best vegetarian cuisine i've ever tasted. The service and atmosphere are second to none. Well worth a detour. I can't wait to go back.

Recommended by Mick (15th May 2009)

I eat at Prashad because I value the quality of the food. I believe that when food is made with love and care, those sentiments can be tasted, digested and in turn manifest again in the energy that the food provides. A Prashad thali makes me feel good, and feel like doing good things :)

I eat at Prashad because I value the love and care of the people that work there. Bobby and Imran are the restaurant front-line, are friendly, attentive, genuinely interested in the customers who have come to share their space, and make me feel like a friend, rather than just a mouth and a wallet.
Kaushy and Mohan are like a rays of sunshine, clearly taking great pride and interest in the experience of the diner, always ready to chat about not just "how was your meal?" but "how are you?" The kitchen team I haven't met, but the cheerful sounds and laughter that often accompanies food preparation is a heart warming appetiser to any meal. Shy Minal sometimes pops her head out to see that her efforts are being well received, and of course they always are.

I eat at Prashad because I know that, as a vegetarian, whatever I order from the menu will be delicious, consciously prepared and of a quality leagues ahead of any other restaurant not only in the North, but also, I am becoming increasingly convinced, in the whole of the UK. This is no idle appraisal - my partner and I are happy to travel around and eat in new places, and rarely do we find such a balance of quality and value. I love that despite their obvious success, Prashad have stuck to a philosophy of awesome food at affordable prices. This sense of fairness spills over into the charitable endeavours that Prashad are constantly involved with, and in supporting Prashad I know I am also helping them to continue making a difference in the wider community.

I eat at Prashad because the atmosphere is welcoming, the music that accompanies the meals always interesting and unusual - no thoughtless muzak here. I always leave with a feeling of satisfaction.

I can't recommend a visit highly enough - whether you are vegetarian or not, the food here takes centre stage. Dishes are full of character, and speaking as someone that has travelled extensively (eaten my way!) around India - high quality, authentic Gujarati fare.

Recommended by Senor Calvo (12th May 2009)

Since moving to Bradford in 1988 I have eaten Prashad's marvelous food hundreds of times, at first when it was an Indian deli and we lived around the corner (leading to very frequent visits) and in latter years in the restaurant - though the deli is still going strong too. We go a couple of times a month and the quality of the food is consistently excellent, as is the service. At around £12-15 per head (you'd have to have a prodigious appetite to go much over £20) it is very good value for money indeed. Prashad is Gujarati and vegetarian, but don't fall into the trap of thinking that makes it a place to go for 'a curry' or for meat eaters to suffer an evening with vegetarian friends (in my other life I'm an enthusiastic offal-eating carnivore), it's a restaurant where skilled chefs make delicious, vibrant tasting food, which is served by welcoming, knowledgeable staff - what more could you want?

Dining at Prashad this lunchtime was like being transported back to Mumbai and South India for me as we tucked into Rengan Bhajias, Bhel Supreme, Masala Dosa and Idli Sambar. Kaushy Patel could easily hold her own against any world-class South Indian Chef and Mumbai Chef when it comes to preparing delicious Masala Dosas, Idli Sambars and Bhel of such high quality and consistency.

Going out in the bright Spring sunshine on an afternoon and then coming here for dinner afterwards has to be the most enjoyable way to spend a Sunday in April, especially when our meal included some of our favourite dishes such as Rebgan Bhajias, Bhel Supreme, Masala Dosa, Zuchchini and Peas, and Kichddi. How do Kaushy Patel and her brilliant team in the Prashad kitchen continue to maintain such a high standard of cuisine? It is no wonder that she has won plaudits year after year. Thank you Kaushy, thank you Prashad for a most delicious and enjoyable meal.

We came with a large-ish group, and had to wait for a table. We were given comfortable seats in the takeaway area and samples of the deli products to taste. The menu was unfamiliar (especially to our Australian guests), and we asked for recommendations. The food that came was just the right amount, varied in hotness but was in our comfort zone, beautifully presented and very tasty. 3 courses plus lassi and tea came to about £12.50 per head. My carnivore husband was very pleased, and said if he hadn't known in advance, he might not have noticed until afterwards that it was all vegetarian. We were in Bradford for a science fiction convention, and we wrote a review for the convention newsletter and even came back after the con for deli snacks to take home. Highly recommended.

Being Mothering Sunday, Prashad had put on a special 'Love Your Mum' Vegetable Platter on the menu, as a starter for two persons to share. This was difficult to resist with such tempting choices as Baby Hara Bhara Kebab; Bread Bataka Vada; Vegetable Cutlets; Mini Chaat or Bhel; Peas Kachori. The result was a gorgeous titlation of our palate with a rich variety of aroma, flavours and mouth-watering taste. We also had a Masala Dosa, Rengan and Peas dish and Kichdi. The Mum in the party was totally delighted with the meal. We shall make a point of coming here on Mothering Sunday next year.

As it was Valentine's Day, Prashad had put on a special extra menu offering a starter platter consisting of six different delicious dishes, each shaped into a heart. A restaurant worth driving 20 miles from Holmfirth to Bradford to eat in, passing many Bradford eating places on the way. Do not be put off by the title 'vegetarian', this is a vegetarian restaurant with diverse dishes to suit many tastes including 'light' options. We are not vegetarians but the food is far superior to and more interesting than most eating places we know. The service is friendly and quick, the food is freshly cooked while you wait and as hot and spicy as you wish with dishes suitable for children. A simple decor belies the delights within.

Bobby, his father and a wonderful team of hardworking staff from Prashad organised and provided the food for our wedding earlier this year. It was without a doubt one of the highlights of the day. The food was stunning....from the beautifully spiced starters to the aubergine and pea curries and dessert. It couldn't have been better. Nearly all our guests commented on just how good the food had been - from my wife's relatives who're versed in southern Indian cuisine (one couple used to run a South Indian restaurant in Sydney) to mates of mine from London who declared it the best curry they'd ever had ! Whether its a take-out, a night out at the restaurant or catering for an event, I couldn't recommend them more highly.

For me good food and diet meeting my ethical requirements are always that helps me decide which restaurant I should visit and eat in. Time and again I come back to my roots, ie Prashad Vegetarian. Not only it is ethical, but the food is simply out of this world, SHUDDHA & SATVIK, meaning pure & healthy. One can only come across such attention to food and diet only when one is devoted. That is the root of Prashad's success, devotion, pure and simple.

This is one of our favourite Indian restaurants in Bradford and we try and dine here as often as we can. We are always accorded a very warm welcome and offered a first rate service. The food is always top-notch. We have several favourite dishes, so we tend to alternate choosing from baingan bhajia, bataka wada, bhel supreme and pani puri for our starters and masala dosa, utthapam, idli sambar, zucchini and peas and the aubergine dish for our main courses.

I had heard so much about Prashad, a wonderful vegetarian restaurant that was in Bradford. Then in early December at last I had the chance to visit it. I was delighted with what I found. The menu is more unusual than the standard fare found at other Asian restaurants. I have been to India and found the dishes such as bhel, pani puri, massala dosa, idli sambar, very reminiscent of my happy times spent there. All in all it was a most pleasurable experience that I hope to repeat many times in the future.

Excellent vegetarian food. We found this lovely place in our last week of living in Yorkshire and are so disappointed we didn't find it 3-years earlier! Over the course of moving house we re-visited for a take-away 3 times in one week - and we don't usually buy take aways at all, but the food here was so good it was like eating a great curry we had cooked at home.

We don't eat meat but it wouldn't matter if we did as the food here is so tasty you really wouldn't miss the flesh not being there.

A selection of the best of what we had included the Zucchini curry which was so fresh and tasty, and you could really taste the Zucchini. The Masala Dosa was one of the best I've ever had from many great restaurants, the Chole was delicious and the Taka Dhal was surprisingly a really flavoursome little dish in itself rather than a side dish as dhal usually is. The homemade pickle tray and unusual flavoured popadoms were remarkable and the rice was above and beyond any standards you'd expect from rice in a good restaurant.

The mixed started tray was really different and we enjoyed it very much, but on that particular night we had ordered too much so didn''t finish it all. However, we gave it to my dad, who came over the next day to help us pack, for his lunch and he was more than impressed. He ate the remainder of the cake cooked with mustard seeds and the deep fried lentils with coconut and was very impressed.

I can't recommend this place enough and am so impressed something this good exists in somewhere outside of London. I only wish we had heard about it sooner. I hope Bobby Patel and his family keep up the good work as there aren't many take-aways like this around Yorkshire.

Whenever we visit my in-laws in Bradford, we make a point to visit the Prashad and we look forward to dining there. The food is simply heavenly and it is not a surprise as the award-winning chef makes a point of praying to the Divinity before commencing the cooking. In fact, I have been told that Prashad is a Sanskrit word which means sanctified food and boy, it tastes as if the gods themselves have had a hand in its production. With such an attitude to the serving of meals at Prashad, it is not a wonder that eating there is a great joy and sheer pleasure. I love the pani puri, the masala dosa and the ildi ssambar to name a few of the dishes that I choose when we go there. I can highly recommend eating there.

It is fair to say this is the best restaurant I've ever been to. Not only is the food absolutely fantastic, the service they have to offer is outstanding. I've been eating at Prashad now for two years and will continue to visit as dining there has become part of my religion as so many of my other friends who also visit on regular occasions. The food that I strongly recommend if you decide to visit prashad (you would be a foolish not to) are the 'Chole' 'Bhel Supreme' and the Corn Rolls to name a few. The restaurant is also Vegan and Ayurvedic friendly. I strongly urge you to visit this little wonder as I'm sure you will agree live wouldn't be the same without them. 10/10. Keep up the good work!!

I'll be honest - I LOVE my meat and fish. When Baz took me to the door of this place, I read the sign above the restaurant - (Vegetarian) - and thought "oh no.." So it is with great surprise that I say the food was tasty, filling and thoroughly satisfying. But here's the kicker...the people who run this place are, quite possibly, among the friendliest on the entire planet, no joke!

Will I freely go back and do without again? Of course.
Do I recommend this place, even to totally partisan meat-eaters? Absolutely.

Go on, give it go - you'll be shocked at the experience.

I know a lot about indian vegetarian cooking, as i come from an Indian family, and i used to be a Hindu monk , and cooked for the monks regularly.
The food you will find in this amazing little place , is out of this world, and i would recommend all of you to try the award winning cuisine at least once, "you won't regret it".
when i had my first meal there , i not only felt very satisfied with the taste of the food, but felt inspired and uplifted too. Due to my previous spiritual training ,i can understand the reason was that the cooks are very spiritual and devoted people, and therefore everything is very clean and attractive.
Hope to see you there !!! Happy eating !!!

We recently visited Prashad as my sister is a vegan and I love my Indian food. As some other writers have said previously, don't let the surrounding area put you off!!

The food is so much different from anything else I have tasted before that it was all we could talk about for the next few days. To be perfectly honest, I couldn't even tell you half of the things I ate but what I will say is that the taste was fresh and very more-ish.

My daughter found some of the tastes a little too strange for her palette but I would simply say go and try this place and make up your own mind.

The chef also came into the restaurant to say hello to everyone which I have not experienced for a long time. I'll certainly be going again!!

My friend and I went to Prashad last week for lunch, what a little find!!! The flavours are amazing, really looking forward to going again and would really recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

I heard about Prashad from staff in the Bombay Stores a few years ago while I was undergoing retail therapy for the tragic complaint of "living down south". What a gem! I hardly need praise individual dishes as other reviewers have already done a great job but, for those in the know it serves the best Shrikand ever. I come all the way from Hertfordshire for gastronomic therapy - I envy you locals who can eat there more than once a year!

I first visited Prashad years ago when there was no eat in option.

When they later added the indoor munchies, I moved out of the area. Just my luck!.

Whenever I go to Bradford I make my way to Horton Grange Road and I have to admit, the area does not look promising. How is it possible that a multi award winning chef who beats the pants off of the top chefs from major hotels and restaurants works out of a place tucked away like this?

But there it is and there she is.

The food is cooked by her or one of her immediate family. The food is served by the family. You simply will not find anything closer to home cooking in ANY restaurant in the UK. No exceptions.

Oh, and yes, it is awesome!

Prashad is great! I live locally and find it great - it's a lovely little restaurant with more concern for good quality food than a formal atmosphere. While being just big enough to accommodate an evening out with a large group of friends, it is also cosy enough to get to have a quiet chat or speak to the waiters. It also represents very good value, and is a bit of a Bradfordian 'best kept secret' by locals and students alike.

I am a Londoner and was visiting my friends in Bradford who brought me here for dinner. What a grand little place this is. I hadn't experienced this type of Indian Cuisine before so it was all new to me. But boy, what a revelation it has been! The Faluda drink was exquisite! We also had Cashew-Nut and Corn Rolls, Pani Puri, Masala Dosa, Utthapam and Idli sambar. You Indians are sheer geniuses to think of dishes such as these. Altogether it was a great meal and well worth my visit to Bradford. My friends tell me that there are such restaurants in London. So I must try and locate them. But I bet they do not have a Triple-Award-Winning South Asian Chef of the UK like Kaushy Patel here.
So, you good people of Bradford; give the Prashad a try and I can assure you that you won't be disappointed.

When my friends asked me where I would like to go for a meal on my birthday, I had no hesitation in choosing Prashad as it has become my favourite place to dine in Bradford. We chose Mango Lassi, Bhel Supreme, Pani Puri, Utthapam, Coconut Chutney, Idli Sambar, Chickpea Chole, Kitchri, Kadhi and Kulfi. I have not eaten such tasty food in any other Asian Restaurant in Bradford. We also bought a variety of Indian sweets from the take-away section. I only wish that it was a little nearer to my home but never mind, that won't stop me from coming again.

Every time I leave Prashad's I think 'it really doesn't get any better than this' ....and every time I return I think 'this is even better than last time'. Simply the best food in Bradford, cooked by a magician. I took a new friend today who said it was the best Asian food he had ever tasted. I had my favourite pea kachori, and the wonderful uttapam, which manages to be fresh, light and filling all at the same time (how does that happen?) with a coconut based dip to die for. Yet another wonderful and memorable meal. If you have someone to surprise, love or impress....take them to Prashad's and see their delight.

I am from Bolton, Lancashire. I visited my friends in Bradford and they took me to this Indian Vegetarian Restaurant for dinner. I have often eaten in Asian Restaurants but my concept of Indian curries was limited to the standard fare that is offered in these restaurants, namely balti, korma, bhuna, zalfrezi, Madras and such like.

Then I had a look at the Prashad menu. What an eye-opener that was! Wow! Dishes such as Mango Lassi, Cashewnut and Corn Rolls, Bataka Wada, Bhel, Pani Puri, Masala Dosa, Utthapam, Idli Sambar, Sheero, Sev were an entry into a totally new world for me. We had a veritable feast fit for royalty. I never realised that Indian Cuisine could be so varied and so tasty.

What have I missed all these years that I have been eating in Asian Restaurants! I shall certainly be back the next time I am in Bradford. Is there any chance of Prashad opening a branch in Bolton?

My partner took me here yesterday, what a delightful revelation!

I have been to a goodly number of Indian restaurants in the UK and have enjoyed many of them. In recent years I have found the 'after-effects' less than pleasant. I was assured this would not be the case on this occasion.

Since she had previously visited the restaurant (and take-away!) several times, I asked my partner to order for me, so I can't recall precisely what we had. I know she also intends to submit a review, so I expect she will identify the dishes we enjoyed. Sufficient to say everything was both surprising and delicious.

After asking permission I took a photograph of the young lady in the kitchen and thanked her for such an excellent meal. This was an experience I will remember for a long time, and one I will want to repeat very soon.

Perhaps next time I will order for the two of us! I know we will continue to 'sample' each other's meal. I especially enjoyed the Kulfi ... with two spoons!

This must be one of the best authentic Indian restaurant in the UK!

No 'after-effects' except for a desire to return and repeat the experience!

I live and work in London and when I visit my Mum and Dad we always make it a point to dine in this superb Indian Vegetarian Restaurant our favourite place to eat out in Bradford. I have been to India on several occasions as my family on Dad's side live there. Eating here brings back happy, nostalgic memories of my times spent in India and the meals I have shared with my family there. My favourite starters are Bhel Supreme and Pani Puri. We usually choose from Masala Dosa, Utthapam, Idli Sambar and the delicious Rengan and Lilva, an aubergine curry for our main courses. My favourite desserts are Lapsi and Sev. Kaushy Patel is a true Culinary Magician able to produce such mouth-watering dishes on the Prashad menu.

I am a French citizen and a vegetarian, teaching French in schools in Heckmondwike on a short term contract. As my contract had come to an end, I came to Bradford to bid goodbye to my vegan friends living in Shipley. They took me to this most unusual Indian Vegetarian Restaurant. I am very glad that they did because I have not ever come across another like it either in France or here during my stay in England. Although I have eaten in many Asian restaurants in France and in this country I had not come across a menu like this before. I was introduced to a whole new world of Indian vegetarian Cuisine. I had a Falooda, a drink made out of yoghurt, ice cream, noodles and many other ingredients that I cannot even name. It was absolutely heavenly, pure ambrosia.

For starters we had Rengan Bhajia (auberjine fritters), pani puri, which I was shown how to eat! A puri is a small round, puffed, crispy, lightly fried, hollow wheat cake. A hole is made in its surface with the thumb and the inside is filled with a mixture of potato, chickpeas, onions, etc. Then it is filled with a tamarind sauce and the puri is placed in the mouth. As you bite into the puri the taste buds are teased and tingled with exotic flavours that are released!

We shared a masala dosa, an utthapam and idli sambar, enabling me to have a taste of these different and unusual dishes. I was too full to try one of he wonderful sounding desserts. Bobby Patel the owner very kindly took a photo of the three of us at the table thus enabling me to have a record on my friends and also this wonderful restaurant. Bobby you are welcome to open a branch in my home town in France and you can be sure that I will be there every weekend!

I do not know of any other restaurant where the chef prays to God before she starts the day's cooking and actually offers the deity the product of her labours. So it is no wonder that Kaushy has won the South Asian Chef of the Year award for three years in succession. The results are very evident in the very imaginative menu at Prashad. The aubergine fritters and the pani puri are my favourite starters, the utthapam and the idli sambar being my favourite main courses. The proprietors and staff are very friendly and always helpful.

This is an oasis for vegetarians and vegans wishing to eat Indian cuisine in Bradford. It has the added advantage of having Kasuhy Patel, the winner of UK's Best South Asian Chef for three years in a row as the Head Chef. Dishes such as Bhel, Pani Puri, Masala Dosa, Utthapam, Idli Sambar that you would not find in other Asian restaurants are on the menu. One is always given a friendly welcome by the proprietors and staff. The prices are very reasonable too. Once tried it is very difficult not to come back again and again!

I've spent about 4 months in India and fell in love with Gujarati and South Indian food. I spent a few years after my return complaining that Leeds didn't appear to have anything beyond the standard North Indian/ Kashmiri/ Pakistani range of restaurants which are heavy on the meat, thick sauces and breads and then I found Prashad (which admittedly is in Bradford) .

I can't begin to explain how different the food is from what people usually think of as Indian food. It's fresh and light and each dish tastes completely different.

The special chaat is divine. Diced samosas, chickpeas, potato, crispy noodle things with a yogurt sauce, chilli sauce and tamarind sauce (tamarind is to (South) Indian food what soy is to Chinese). The dahi puri are equally good and the pani puri (a hollow crispy thing that you add potato and chickpeas and tamarind sauce to before popping in your mouth whole) is great fun for novices.

They do a masala dosa (rice and dal pancake filled with spiced potato served with a coconut sauce and sambar) which is what led me here in the first place. The filling doesn't have tomato which is a shame but I think that must be the Gujarati way of making it.

The 'mains' are all amazing and include Gujarati and Punjabi specialties. The Butter Pau Baji and Paneer Masala are particularly good.

All the food is vegetarian (I'm not) and there is no drinks license but it doesn't matter at all. When you're eating the food you just don't notice or think you're missing out. I took a group of 6 ardent meat eaters and they haven't stopped talking about the food. Two of them have been back at least twice with friend and family.
