I can say without doubt this was the worst restaurant I have ever had the misfortune to dine in, and one which has the nerve to charge London prices to boot. Despite apparently having the reputation of being one of the best restaurants in Chesterfield, I had my doubts on walking in to find that the restaurant smelt of curry! I was further concerned on being shown to our table to find a piece of hard, stale-looking pizza base already on our bread plates. The final evidence that this restaurant was nothing but a pretentious phoney was when we ordered a bottle of very ordinary Valpolicella and the waiter offered to decant it! However, much worse was to come. I ordered scallops for my starter and the waiter walked into the kitchen with the order and out again with my plate. The scallops had obviously been pre-cooked, were cold and served on some stale, hard bread (similar to that on our bread plates) which claimed to be bruschetta. I returned that to the kitchen and ws then given some smoked salmon with some considerably less than fresh prawns. Our main dishes of rack of lamb and steak had obviously been cooked hours before and reheated in the microwave and were dry and tasteless. All plates were adorned with various sprays of fresh fruit, but this did not disguise the fact that the food was utterly disgusting. Most of the waiting staff were barely out of school and had no idea - "would you like black pepper or parmesan cheese?" was the refrain whenever they put something in front of you - on steak and rack of lamb! All in all, a very expensive and foul meal. Do not go there!
