My work colleagues and I had a celebration planned, so I chose Cafe Italia for its quality of food and proximity to the station, bus routes and parking. The majority of my colleagues had never visited this restaurant before. They were not disappointed - I got so many positive comments in the days following. Some remembered the original Bibbys being there in the 70s and compared the atmosphere and authenticity to those days. Cafe Italia did us proud in every way - good food, hospitality, service and value for money, I think there will be many return visits in the future.

Last year whilst working on a project based in Leeds, I ate at Cafe Italia one of the nights which resulted in my eating there at least twice a week. Fantastic food, hospitable staff. Nothing was ever too much for me, first name terms were soon established and suggestions of 'what was good today' were abundant. I would have no hesitation in promoting this restaurant, seafood dishes impeccable ... love it!

Went there last night and the service was awful + it was a bit cold inside due to windows being opened fully on a cold night. We had 2 courses in 2 hours and 2 drinks as that was the amount of times that we were asked in the timescale if we wanted refills. I am sorry that I have to write negative reviews as the owner was friendly and overall it was a lovely restaurant. but the organisation was severely lacking. There were two waitresses who could have done with working two halves of the restaurant each as they obviously expected that each other picked each others responsibilities. We would have spent a lot more money in there if we had had decent service as the food was good, except that after waiting 40 mins for our main course they forgot a basic salad! They handed us the sweet menu and after 25 mins of waiting we decided that enough was enough. When ordering our mains a couple behind were attended to first but had sat down 10 minutes after us so were gracious enough to point this out to the waitress who then took our order but forgot to take theirs!! only returning when we again brought this to her attention.
The service could be sorted easily and if this was the case then I would recommend.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! I went here last week for my friend's Hen Party night and not only was the service slow, but the manager (or owner) was very rude to my friend (also a customer) and verbally abused the staff. Although the food that eventually came out was good, I would not want my money to go into an establishment with a despicable boss who mistreats not only customers, but also his workers.

Six of us ate at Cafe Italia on Wednesday evening 29th December and we had a really good time. Fantastic food, reasonably priced and great service. Special mention to Laure the lovely French waitress who gave impeccable service and compliments to the Italian chef. Really enjoyed the calamari starter. My husband said that his calzone pizza was the best he has ever had. Will certainly visit again soon.

Having just returned from Rome i wasn't expecting the greatest but was thoroughly surprised! Excellent food, great service and £4.50 for a large house red wine - perfect! Very timely two - two courses served easily within the lunch hour for just £7.95. Definitely go back.

Restaurant Cafe Italia is a local restaurant I would certainly recommend if you would like to try great Italian food at a reasonable price. My wife and I decided to go for dinner and we were welcome with a lovely bruschetta. I asked for a pizza but my wife who is not Italian wanted to try a dish which was not in the menu. I asked the waiter if Chef Marco could go the extra mile and make her happy. He did indeed! Phenomenal service! They also have a very good selection of wines. I had a great experience but if you would like more information before you pop in you can check their website.

Really good food and good friendly service - best Italian I've eaten in for as long as I can remember.

Found this restaurant on this site and decided to give it a try for lunch. My wife and I each had a pasta dish. The sauces were perfect and the pasta was not the usual run of the mill stuff. lovely bread, the house wine was excellent and when we asked for tap water a jug with ice and lemon was cheerfully delivered. The service was excellent and we will use this restaurant again.
A hidden gem.

after looking for somewhere for a quick bite to eat and finding a nearby Italian chain full, we spotted Cafe Italia just round the corner from our hotel and I'm so glad we did! The food was lovely, the staff incredibly friendly and helpful and the we were in and out within an hour - 2 courses and drinks! My husband and I love pasta and both agree this was one of the nicest meals out we have had - much much better than what we have had at the chain that was full anyway. Being pregnant I had to say no to the steak special (fillet with dolcelatte...gutted!) so I opted for the mushroom ravioli and it was yummy :) if we are ever in Leeds city centre again I'll definitely be making another visit!!
