TOTALLY RIPPED OFF!!!My family and I visited this place tonight, and the owner stated that the Tastecard offer of "2 for 1" was applicable to the whole menu, with a mix and match of starter dishes, pasta and fish dishes all eligible for the Tastecard "2 for 1" offer. We clarified specific dishes on the menu that would be ok for the Tastecard discount, and the owner agreed that this was fine.We arrived at 515pm, and the first starter arrived at 615pm. Poor service and the owner was very dismissive and unable to take time to discuss the menu or set our table. We ordered 2 starters, 1 adult pasta, 1 adult fish dish, and 2 children's pasta dishes that were pasta with olive oil pasta with tomato sauce. When all the main dishes arrived, my daughter's tomato pasta had not been prepared. He simply brought one bowl of spaghetti with olive oil and thought my two daughters would share this one bowl of pasta! Very poor attitude and service. She then had to wait another 20mins for her spaghetti with tomato sauce. No parmesan cheese was offered for the children's spaghetti dishes, and the girls were disappointed by this. They are only 3 and 6 years of age, and the parmesan cheese is a highlight for them! Once we finished, the owner produced a bill for around £64 that included £8 for drinks (the children's "Princes" apple juice cartons cost £2!!).He did not apply any Tastecard discount ("2 for 1"), so we requested this. He then charged us £50. Essentially, the discount was £6, as the drinks are not discounted. I asked the owner why the discount was so low.He then explained that he discounted the 2 children's spaghetti dishes that totalled £6. He then denied having had a discussion with us before ordering the food about what is/what is not covered by Tastecard. He became very defensive, and asked me if I wished to telephone Tastecard to register my complaint. The owner showed total arrogance towards me and I'm afraid he should be embarrassed by his customer service. It's not a case of the money (£30 max), but really a question of BEING RIPPED OFF BY RESTAURANTS who claim to be part of the Tastecard club. This restaurant has no class and the owner misled us regarding the Tastecard offer. Sometimes, it is okay to admit you made a mistake for the sake of maintaining good customer service and public trust. Very disappointed with Vito's in Northcote, Battersea!!
