Sangam - Cheadle
Very good a step up from the usual Indian fayre. Superb service poppadoms on the table in 30 seconds drinks soon after. Great main courses. This will be my new regular Bonzo
This is good value for money, if you go for the Indian menu. The 'popular' Indian dishes are a little stereotyped, but move away from these and you'll get a better deal. Portions are very generous The Thai menu is dire though and made this party wonder if it was prepared somewhere else. Service is very good; attentive but not overpowering. Monsieur Creosote
The Heald Green Sangam was heaving on Saturday night, and without a reservation you probably wouldn't have got in (it's much quieter on weekdays). In all the bustle and noise in this large, modern eatery, the staff kept their cool, and my party of six were politely and competently served. I guess the East European waitress was not through Sangam boot camp yet, as she did not know what lassi or cider were. The menu is, as you would expect, large with all the usual dishes and a good bunch of specials, but this was our second visit and we were confident that any choice was going to be good. We were right. Starters are mostly large, so we were glad of a bit of a break before the main courses. For a "different" starter, try the fish tikka. Main courses feature plenty of meat content, so a shared vegetable side dish is a good idea. Lovely fresh naans. For two courses and drinks, reckon about £35 for two including well earned tip. We'll be back soon. Bernard Lugner
