Gospoda Polish Restaurant

Unit 2, Princess Square, Newcastle City Centre, NE1 8ER - 0871 9603855

Situated in the Newcastle shopping area of Princess Square near the Library, Gospoda opened in 1997 and remains the only Polish restaurant in the North East. Gospoda translates as restaurant or inn, somewhere warm and friendly to go for comfort food and drink that won't break the bank. Here you will find real Polish home cooking using recipes handed down through the generations and a modern twist or two along the way. They also have a European menu at lunchtimes Monday-Friday perfect for business people to eat within an hour. Expect great polish beers and vodkas, light bites and larger meals all at great prices. Starters come in at around £2-£3, try Polish Slaska sausage fried with onions and served with Polish bread and mustard and mains from £6-£8 such as Hunters Stew or pork and beef schnitzels. There is plenty of choice for vegetarians and they are famous for their stuffed dumplings. Desserts include homemade apple pie and crunchy waffle cake, in fact all the cakes here are homemade. A great space to come for a beer, snack or coffee, the space also lends itself to art exhibitions and is currently showing a range of photographs for a competition called Poland through a lens.
