having only been twice i was surprised that the staff remembered us and immediately offered to but 2 tables together for our party. food great, portions good, good value for money.

I have been a reasonably regular visitor to Hollathan’s in Durham City for a few years now, generally on a Friday or Saturday night where cocktails are a must. I visited last week during the day and must say the new decor and menus are excellent. The subtle mix of the old and new are very pleasing on the eye and the top quality food makes this one of the best restaurants in the county (IMHO). Now with the addition of cut-price cocktails all day, I can see me needing to pay the owner rent.

i like the food in hollathans but when i go i get annoyed at the fact that when people walk in staff don't go over and tell them if there are tables free. During the day people with pushchairs struggle around and staff didnt once say that there were no tables. the food is good but the service and helpfulness of the staff could be better.
