Most disappointing meal I've ever paid for. Place itself is really nice, staff friendly. Pepper sauce with starter and diane sauce with steak appeared pretty much to have come form the same pot/packet. Never seen so much sauce drowning a starter before, both with my haggis fritters and companion's prawn tempura which came flooded with straight from the bottle chilli sauce. Never tasted a diane sauce like it. Steak appeared to come with (under)boiled onions which I can't say I've ever had before with a steak and don't want again.
Have never posted a review of a restaurant before but feel compelled to do so as there are so many other places to spend this amount of money for a far superior feed.

I took my parents in law to this restaurant to say thanks for looking after our children (their grandchildren). The first problem i had was the frosty reception when we were told we had booked the wrong table (a table of 4 next to the window), there were six uf us!! I hadnt been there before, i dont know the restaurant layout, all i wanted was a table near the window. When I saw the prices on the menu (£10.50 for fish and chips) I though okay, that's fine, it will probably be worth. I went outside to play with my son in the play park and was engulfed from the noxious fumes form the fire that was burning a rubber out the back next to the kitchen (not a good place for children). What were they thinking, or were they thinking.
The meal arrived and i have never seen broccoli overccoked this much in my life, it was more brown than green and was so bad i couldnt use the fork to pick it up properly, i had to use it like a spoon. No one had taken away our starter cutlery away, no one had asked us how our meals were. The fish and chopis were good, but not worth £10.50, attention from staff was poor and if you were to fall over on the carpet, you would be stuck to it, pretty disgusting.
Please pass this onto the reataurant (provide my email addrerss as well)
Really disapointing

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at the Cockatoo. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. The standard of food was very high and the presentation exceptional. The only complaint was that the conservatory was full therefore we had to sit in the family area. This however never dampened our experience. What I found most appealing was the sense of community within the restaurant with the staff appearing to have formed bonds with most customers. This created a welcoming atmosphere and uplifted the mood. I would recommend the Cockatoo to anyone interested in a quite, affordable and relaxing dining experience.
