Cadlys Arms – AberdareBeen to the Gadlys on many occasions, we find every aspect of the pub to our liking ,food is good and very reasonably priced,we are always made welcome and made to feel " special",staff work hard and always polite, recommend to anyone wanting a very pleasant time in clean and relaxed environment. Well done Jeff and Pat ,see you very soon
Cadlys Arms – AberdareHome cooked chips not frozen and they are delicious. The food is typical pub choice but made to a high standard. Would recommend the fish and chips or homemade corned beef pie. Would definitely return and recommend the Redcow.
Red Cow Inn – AberdareOrdered a meal for four and waited an hour to be served. No explanations offered, no apology. Restaurants must know when there is going to be a delay and should be up front about this. If we had known we would have gone elsewhere
Tirfounder Fields Brewers Fayre – AberdareI have eaten here on numerous occasions in 2008, the last time was during December 2008 on a Wednesday when there was a singer also after the meal. The surroundings are very clean, the conservatory an added bonus to the restaurant, particularly pleasant during the summer time. The meals are very tasty, mixed with surroundings and a singer on some nights, the restaurant is highly recommended for a night out.
Marquis Inn, The – AberdareMyself and my husband regularly have a sit in meal and also a takeaway from this restaurant. Although the restaurant is in dire need of a lick of paint, the service is first class with waiters on hand immediately at your beck and call, the first is absolutely fantastic and is highly recommended. If your first time at this restaurant, try and ignore the surroundings as the food makes up for it completely, and also the prices are VERY reasonable.
Gulshan Tandoori Restaurant – Aberdarei was very disappointed with my meal...it was cold and disgusting. the hostess was ignorant and i heard very bad language coming from the kitchen area. the staff were very badly treated and the surroundings are old fashioned. NEVER AGAIN!!
Cadlys Arms – AberdareI wouldn't eat here - when I tried to ring to book a table the telephone manners of the bar staff were extremely offensive and they were extremely rude and unhelpful
Ynyscynon Inn, The – AberdareGreat pub friendly atmosphere
Queen Victoria Inn – AberdareThe Cardiff Arms has new owners, and reopened in March of this year (2008) following a major refurbishment. Live music every Friday Night
Cardiff Arms Hotel, The – AberdareBrill service ...good food fantastic entertainment on may the 21st
Marquis Inn, The – Aberdareold fashioned pub with old fashioned people who was very clicky, dont bother stay at home
Lamb Hotel – AberdareNow generally the standard of food in South Wales is good and it is very rare that I do find a restaurant which is worthy of a poor review. Having visited the Ynyscynon on a previous occasion and had a very poor meal indeed I felt that perhaps it was a one off and a review at this time was inappropriate so I had to return for a second time. The Ynyscynon having previously known as The Golden Post now has an Indian Restaurant on one side and a Pub restaurant on the other side. Whilst the glorious smell from the Indian side should have persuaded me to enter there my other guests were not indian eaters so we decided on the pub side..... Boy was I wrong again..... I decided that I would have a chicken starter which turned out to be unavailable and therefore I opted for a prawn coctail and to be honest that was OK but you can't really go wrong with a prawn cocktail. There was no soup for starters and when asked about that they replied that never have and it is only available on a Sunday Lunch. Perhaps a few tins from Asda may not go amiss. Main Course was a great T bone steak cooked medium to rare and whilst the steak and the chip portions were good the steak was the opposite. It was well done and would be better placed on a sole of my shoes and OK perhaps the chef didn't hear it right and they did say sorry and that they would replace it. Then two minutes later my steak was return and I could see why it was returned in two minutes as it was just shown the grill on two side and when I cut into it it was very very rare and I am sure I heare it mooooo ...... When I spoke to the waitress again and said that it was very rare she said well that's how my brother likes it and he likes it medium rare. To which I replied that beleve it or not I am not her brother..... I decided not to have any dessert myself but the people on the other table complained that their cheesecake was very dry and a little stale. So all in all I guess my second visit was not a great success and to be honest I do not think that I will be returning for a third (unless it is to the Indian restaurant next door). So on reflection I would only be able to give 2 out of 10 for the food as they did do the prawn cocktail OK.
Ynyscynon Inn, The – AberdareI must say a very pleasant evening, sure did open my eyes and made it a worthwhile and see it for yourself experience. Food outstanding the steaks in particular!
Rhoswenallt Inn – AberdareNow while we get the same old fayre in these restaurants we rarely get service of a higher degree but I am glad to say that here we do. Whilst the standard of this restaurant when it first opened was lacking in the personal touch I think that someone must have joined the management with a heart and listened to what people have complained about. If I wrote this when it opened it would have been a different story but now you can expect good service in a good atmosphere. The management now deal with problems in a fast and efficient way as someone when I was there complained that they had to wait too long. Even though they were full to capacity they were still friendly to the customer and did their best to help. The food was standard Brewers Fayre quality and is OK but the service made up for it. The children? Play Factory was good to keep the kids entertained while the adults had a chat.
Tirfounder Fields Brewers Fayre – AberdareGadlys Arms is advertised as a Fish Restaurant, I'd say its more of a traditional pub with a fresh fish board who also have a grill menu with some outstanding steaks - including the Americano a 14oz sirloin topped with chill sauce, bacon and cheese and finished with two friend eggs! The guys in my party couldnt finish their plates which certainly isnt the norm! There is a bar menu available two which had general pub grub on it. All sauces and pates are homemade too. The hostess was friendly and helpful the decor could have done with a little updating but for a pub/restaurant in a small corner of Aberdare it was excellent!!
