I took my Mum for breakfast. The Barn Cafe is beautiful, we were met by a friendly assistant who sat us quickly with no fuss. We both had a barn breakfast which was amazing! The bacon and sausage were particularly good. Overall great food and great service!

Got there after having a 30 minute walk from home for there to be no roast dinners left. The other main hot meal was fish and chips and they’d ran out of that too. We were all so annoyed. We’d ordered drinks (hot chocolate tasted like hot water) so had to leave after that with empty bellies. Nightmare and felt sorry for the kids. Surely all the covers that are booked you should be able to accommodate a hot meal on a Sunday lunch time!

The service unfortunately was intermittent, again I suspect due to being so busy. Would visit again, but maybe for a later lunch, when it may be more relaxed.

Breakfast with a friend, hot pots of Breakfast Tea, I chose the poached eggs with a muffin and cooked ham with a side of Hollandaise. Not a morsel left. My friend was barely viewable over the mountain of scrambled eggs with smoked salmon..she fought through it! We left, all caught up with full tummies. Fabulous service as always by the staff. Please remember to take change for tips.

Yesterday was no exception with seven of us enjoying mid-morning refreshments in the indoor “terrace” area - the older among us finding it easier to hear the conversation around the table in that particular area. The reception on arrival was warm and welcoming, the table service prompt and friendly, and the food was delicious as always! I booked online (a simple, efficient process), but unexpectedly had to adjust the booking the day before by email; yet despite this coming so last-minute, the staff were so good, accommodating and helpful. Thank you to all concerned for a great experience!

The Barn Garden Centre Cafe – ColchesterGood food, and lovely staff, although very busy when we there, so missed out on desserts and coffee. A bit noisy with groups of ladies lunching, but that was fine for me, a bit off putting for my husband. Overall I still say a great place to stop for lunch.
