The weekend of Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May will see Staffordshire’s 19th Century country house Sandon Hall open its gates to the public for the second annual Sandon Spring Fair.

Organised in partnership with the team behind the Stone Food & Drink Festival, the event is a true celebration of the great British spring. Once in the fair itself, alongside artisan food and craft stalls to browse, crowds will be treated to talks and demonstrations throughout the weekend on topics ranging from silk painting to butchery; cookery classes to tutored beer tastings and jewellery making to wedding hair and makeup styling – so there really is something for everyone!

Live entertainment in the form of dance displays, acoustic music and singing acts from pop to classical will grace a stage in the centre of the hall’s sweeping lawn while a beer tent, licensed bar and stalls serving barista-style coffees and teas will ensure everyone stays refreshed – and there will also be a display of classic cars, courtesy of the Stone classic car club.

Day tickets on the gate are prices at £6pp for adults and £2pp for children 2-16 with discounts for advance bookings online. House tours can also be booked in advance online for £11pp inclusive of entry to the Spring Fair (children under 16 can join their parents/carers on the tour free of charge) and any remaining spaces may be booked on the weekend itself for £7pp on top of the entry fee.

Star of Bethnal Green, 359 Bethnal Green Road, E2 6LG.

The best street party in east London is back bank holiday Monday 29th May!

For the 6th year running, The Star of Bethnal Green will be showcasing some of our favourite funk, soul and disco DJ's. Spinning tunes on the street (Block Party style) from our sparkly disco ball caravan!

Being a family-friendly day, there's lots of kids activities. Face painting, a bouncy castle and children's entertainers will be on hand. Get the whole family together in the photo booth and take some fun pictures to remind you of the day. Delicious street food stalls will be serving up treats until late. Naturally we will have an outdoor bar serving craft beer, cocktails and soft drinks!

As always, the party moves inside at 9pm to dance the night away in true star style!

The Star of Bethnal Green Street Party aims to unite both businesses and residents. We want to celebrate the community of the East End, and what better way to do that, than with food, drink and feel good vibes?

For all 7 to 10 years olds with a burgeoning interest in all things food. These popular sessions are all about allowing kids to go at their own pace, making cooking fun and giving them some confidence in the kitchen.

We show them just how easy it is to make delicious and nutritious nibbles, super snacks and classic family food!

After some morning cooking, we usually get the kids to make their own lunch which might be veg-filled pizza, cheesy pasta, seasonal soup or loaded baked potatoes with fairy cakes, fruity muffins, chocolate brownies, cookies or flapjack for afters. And anything they don’t eat, they can take home! What’s not to like!

TIMES: 9.30am to 4pm

NUMBERS: 6-10 participants, 7-10 years old

COSTS: £39pp per day including lunch. Family and friends can enjoy a two course lunch with their children for £15.

SAFETY: Aprons are provided though it’s best for your child to dress casually and comfortably as these activities can be messy! All chopping (using small, sharp but round-headed knives) will be supervised. Our tutors are all CRB checked.

We have 14 English wines available by the bottle on our list on a regular basis, but for the week from and including Saturday 27 May we will have an English sparkling, a white, a red and a rose by the glass also.
