About Steam Bistro
Established in 2015, Steam Bistro is an award-winning venue at the heart of the Lake District in Coniston. Head Chef and owner Sarah Webb and her small team have a simple philosophy - relaxed dining with a great ambience, ingredients sourced from a wealth of local farmers and producers on the doorstep and a friendly, knowledgeable team to take care of you. Plus the added bonus of being able to bring your own bottle along as this is a BYO venue (with £3 per person corkage for the evening). There is a daily changing, fixed price menu with set two- or three-course options. Choices range from British classics like hot pot of local lamb to a firm favourite, the ale-braised blade of beef, to Asian-influenced dishes like five spice pork bao buns or tofu khao soi broth. Vegetarian dishes are available across the menu and many of the dishes are gluten free with vegan menus available on request. Steam Bistro won the readers' choice restaurant of the year at the Cumbria Life magazine food and drink awards and was also shortlisted for 'best casual dining' restaurant.
