For the second week in a row we had Sunday Lunch at the Half Moon. Main course road was plentiful in terms of both meat and veg. Service was polite and not rushed. We are not from this area but when visiting again will come again. Recommend to locals and visitors.

Food & drink decent but the experience was not particularly impressive. Menu selection adequate. Multiple staff serving us in the first few minutes until presumably the main one arrived. Main staff polite and attentive. Dining room has no obvious form of fly killer, so as we are we had flies buzzing around, landing on the table (mating) and on the food. Unhygienic. Other staff decided to change some of the dining room tables while we were eating (for next doors reception planning, it seemed); Scrrrrrrrrrrrape. Scrrrrrrrrrrrrrape. Over and over in the main dining room for several minutes then left. Not a word of apology. Disturbing & amateurish behaviour. Doubt we'll visit again.

Booked a table here for 7.30 Saturday evening (we were staying for two nights Sat & Sun) Wanted to order fillet steak but was told they’d ’run out’ - on a Saturday? At only 7.30 pm and with only two other people eating in the restaurant! Ordered the chicken with goats cheese & asparagus instead from the rather limited menu. Starter of Salt & Pepper Squid was ok but probably frozen. Chicken dish was bland …looked pale and unappetizing and had what looked and tasted like watered down instant chicken gravy. Veg was overcooked. Very disappointing! At breakfast on Monday I ordered poached eggs with sliced avocado on toast. Eggs had obviously been cooked in water with vinegar added..but far too much! Egg white tasted of vinegar and eggs hadn’t been drained so the toast was soaked in vinegary water - inedible! The avocado was diced and looked very dry, it was hard and inedible! Also the restaurant wasn’t open Sunday evening… but we found a very nice Italian restaurant in Petersfield which was a bonus!

My son and daughter in law were married here in August 2017, so it will always be a special place. My friends brought me here yesterday 7 July 2026 for my birthday. The place is as lovely as ever and the staff very friendly. All the meals we ordered were delicious. Hot, well cooked and enjoyed by everyone. Another day to remember. Look forward to coming again and would certainly recommend it.

I easily booked online and went for Lunch. I had heard how great this venue was many years ago. It is a family ran and owned business. It did not disappoint. The service was great by Amelia and the Half Moon is set up as a wonderful traditional pub with a modern twist. To top it all the food was home cooked and outstanding! Great value for money. We have found a little gem and will definitely be back! Highly recommend this

Best Sunday lunch in the area. Only slight gripe is the broccoli is always too undercooked but the cauliflower cheese is to die for.

This pub is rapidly becoming our 'local'. We moved to the area 18 months ago but spent the first year working on the house and garden, so now we are out and about enjoying ourselves. We can walk to it in fifteen minutes so that is an obvious attraction, but it would mean nothing if the food, staff and general atmosphere were not as lovely as they are. Definitely a "thumbs up" to you from us.
