About The Half Moon

Independent and family owned since 2010, The Half Moon is located on the outskirts of the historic market town of Petersfield in the heart of the South Downs National Park. The restaurant, function space, garden and toilet facilities have all recently undergone extensive refurbishment providing a light and airy dining experience for passing visitors and regulars alike. Expect a wide range of freshly prepared dishes from sharing, grazing platters to restaurant and traditional pub classics served Monday to Saturday with traditional Sunday lunches rounding off the weekend. A dedicated Gluten Free menu is also available and special care is taken of those with allergies. You can also stay overnight in one of four ensuite B&B rooms.

Spent a very pleasant evening at the Half Moon. The food was good and well presented. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Will definitely visit again.

We were staying for one night and had dinner in the conservatory. The staff were very nice and efficient. On the whole the food was good. The jus with the chicken dish was disappointing as it was quite watery and made the vegetables soggy. It would probably be better to serve it in a separate jug.

We love this place, the food is always amazing and at a good price. The staff here are great, there were 2 new staff members is not seen before on our last visit and they were just as helpful, polite and efficient as also the regular staff have always been. I can't say enough good things about this pub whether you are going for a pint or a special meal with the family you can't go wrong here, something for everyone ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. Food was very tasty and there was plenty of it. The menu had plenty of choice, something for everyone. Staff were lovely and very helpful. The restaurant is very light and airy and tables are sending placed with plenty of room. There is a garden with a play area for children. Would definitely recommend.

I really dont like to give negative reviews, we visit the half moon regularly and our visit is usually very pleasant however this time around I noticed a few changes, one being that we had to order our desserts when ordering our mains, this put us on the spot as we usally order them after the main course, my partner was put off bring put on the spot and declined a dessert as he did feel rushed to order one, and the same for my son. We was told this was due to a promotion which I didnt see stated on the menu. We were left quite baffled and the food took a long while to get to the table. The waiter seemed flustered and the overall experience felt alittle off.

For the second week in a row we had Sunday Lunch at the Half Moon. Main course road was plentiful in terms of both meat and veg. Service was polite and not rushed. We are not from this area but when visiting again will come again. Recommend to locals and visitors.

Food & drink decent but the experience was not particularly impressive. Menu selection adequate. Multiple staff serving us in the first few minutes until presumably the main one arrived. Main staff polite and attentive. Dining room has no obvious form of fly killer, so as we are we had flies buzzing around, landing on the table (mating) and on the food. Unhygienic. Other staff decided to change some of the dining room tables while we were eating (for next doors reception planning, it seemed); Scrrrrrrrrrrrape. Scrrrrrrrrrrrrrape. Over and over in the main dining room for several minutes then left. Not a word of apology. Disturbing & amateurish behaviour. Doubt we'll visit again.
