Pintxo People

Brighton's Pintxo People was one of the hottest openings of 2006, attracting rave reviews in both the local and national press. Executive Chef Miguel Jessen -- who comes from a two-Michelin-starred background at Madrid's El Amparo -- has developed for the first-floor restaurant an exciting modern Catalan menu with dishes -- in true Spanish style -- designed for sharing (they recommend five plates between two people). The ground floor houses a cafe, deli and an award-winning cocktail bar and here you can enjoy their bite-size pintxos for just £1. The New York Times recently described Brighton's Terre à Terre as "the finest vegetarian restaurant on the south coast of England. . .a truly outstanding choice." It's no exaggeration and if you've never really given vegetarian food a chance, this is the place to explode your preconceptions. Terre à Terre boasts two AA rosettes and a Michelin bib gourmand and you can expect intense flavours, sublime textures and daring combination of ingredients. The fact that there's no meat on the menu is secondary. In business for 15 years now, the restaurant is open every day except Monday from noon til close offering a variety of menus, including their new take on Afternoon Tea -- the Teas, Stickies & Bickies menu. Alexander Cadogan, proprietor of The Saint Restaurant, was born in England and raised in France so it comes as no surprise to find a predominantly French and Modern British menu. With a reputation as one of Brighton & Hove’s finest, the restaurant ticks all the right boxes. An AA rosette is testament to the quality of the cooking, while all produce is sourced locally and wherever possible ingredients are free-range, organic or bio-dynamic. The excellent “terroir” wine list is wholly European and The Saint is also a supporter of the ‘Slow Food’ movement.
