visited this Fish Bar last Friday and found the chips awful, the fish very small and the man who worked there very rude. there are far better fish and chip shops to visit on the Isle of Wight, recommend avoid it.

June’s Fish Bar – Isle of Wightordered main meals for 2. 1st one arrived(both same choice) I and second one arrived whilst we were eating pudding. will not visit this establishment or recommend it to any one. in a word. Rubbish. The salmon was supposed to be wrapped in pancetta but it was bacon. pudding both good.
The Bridge – WinchesterExcellent pub with excellent food ,very popular get there early for the Carvery
Alma Inn – SouthamptonGood menus at reasonable prices and excellent service from charming young staff
Fish Inn – RingwoodWhat a find! We visited the Island to seek out any Michelin star restaurants. There was only one! The Hambrough and owned by chef Robert Thompson. The view from the restaurant was to die for and Thompson's signature dish "as we were told" of Smoked Eel was divine. We will definitely stay next time!
The Hambrough Hotel – Isle of WightTerrible place, no facilities for children, no where to change a baby. Food is overpriced. the service is appalling. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
The Sun Inn Dummer – BasingstokeService was very bad, no changing facilities for babies. Roast dinner veggies were cold and meat was over cooked and under seasoned. Staff were inconsiderate and didn't take the criticism very well. Shame really, we thought it was going to be good.
The Sun Inn Dummer – BasingstokeAfter hearing about this restaurant being one of the better ones on the IOW is decided to take my parents there for a night out. I can't say that it was the best I have visited and would go so far to say that I thought it was just average. I had to ask the waitress for glasses of water...The meals did not all come out together which is key in my opinion...There was a lot of clattering going on in the kitchen which we discovered was the veggies that we were supposed to have been enjoying with our dinner!!! They did show up eventually over cooked. Passed on dessert and just ordered coffee when the waitress finally showed up to ask...Not once did she come over and check that everything was OK....I would not have minded but since we were the first ones in the place I would have expected a little more attention to our comfort and a lot more care with the food for which we were paying for.
Lugleys of Newport Restaurant – Isle of WightWhistlers of Fareham holds a Fish and Chip Quality Award from the National Federation of Fish Friers. It is one of only a handful of shops around the country to have this award. You can be confident of the quality of the product and the service at this shop
Whistlers Fine Fish and Chips (Fareham) – Farehamgood service, very helpful staff, clean and tidy overall. couldn't be better
The Toby Carvery – SouthamptonWe thoroughly enjoyed our meal Friday lunchtime. Nice meal, pleasant atmosphere and no loud music. A member of staff, Vicky, took our booking for Sunday 17th April and she made us very welcome. My friend drove us to the Swan and joined us for the meal. She enjoyed her meal so she offered to put leaflets through doors where she lives in the Portsmouth area. We will certainly be going to the Swan again
The Swan – HavantGo somewhere else We booked for a Sunday lunch/birthday celebration. Undoubtedly the worst dining experience we've ever had: One of the two draught beers had run out No lamb (at 1.30pm) One starter missed Table too small for party, despite advance booking Most food passable, but roast chicken dried out and tasteless, vegetables poor Huge wait between courses, 30 minute wait for dessert menu, complained - order taken and dessert still not served, asked for bill after further 30mins and desserts hadn't even been been started. Far too expensive for the menu. Service absolutely dreadful, not the staff's fault - poor management and just not enough staff. We had two drinks in the 2.5 hours we were there for the two courses we got, staff don't come around often enough to take orders. Seriously, go somewhere else. Do not give the Bridge at Shawford your patronage.
The Bridge – Winchestervery poor lunch, my companions mushroom risotto was not fresh, seemed warmed up and my "organic white bread" ham sandwich was a piece of square supermarket ham between two slices of thick sliced loaf
The Sun Inn Dummer – BasingstokeMarie-Louise & Andres have brought a London Eating House to rural Hampshire, without the City prices. The menu changes daily, and Andres's Catalan origin is evident in the cooking. Every meal that I have had there has impressed me. The wine list is one of the best that I have come across, I believe that Marie-Lou was a wine professional which shows in her choice of wines. Try the MAN Pinotage or Iona Sauvignon Blanc which are among our favorites. Their Bib Gourmand entry in the 2011 Michelin Guide is well deserved.
Purefoy Arms – BasingstokeThe chefs ego far outways his ability to cook food.Ordered the seabass in lime & coconut sauce. So bitter I could not distinguish fish from sauce. On complaining,we were met with hostility & derision. Avoid at all costs.
The Black Swan – AndoverGreat gastronomic experience. Not just your everyday country pub. The menu is highly unique with the influence of the Spanish chef the food displays a very clever mix of local traditional food with a Spanish twist. The wine list too is not to be ignored. Really worth a visit. A worthy winner of the Bib Gourmand award 11
Purefoy Arms – BasingstokeWow great place and people you could not wish for a better Indian restaurant and I have not even mentioned the food yet.... that is great no matter what you order. Can highly recommend.
Naz’s Cuisine – RomseyFantastic, extensive menu, superb quality, sensible prices and nice staff. This has to have been the best Indian meal I have had in the last twenty years, and probably the best value for quality. Parking is a pain, being situated on a bend but worth the walk. This restaurant could give some of the best in the country ‘a run for their money’, especially for the flavour and quality of the food.
Rivaaz – New Milton
