Dennington Lane Curry Club

This restaurant was recommended to the DLCC whilst dining at a different establishment. We found the staff to be extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. The restaurant itself was clean and inviting. The poppadoms tasted a little stale and we were concerned for what may follow. We need not have worried. the curries that came were of a high standard and the menu offered a great variety and specials that we had not come across before. It is a venue that we will visit again and would recommend it. It received a DLCC rating of 7/10

Elachi Indian Restaurant – Barnsley

We went for Christmas Dinner this year and can truly say that it MADE our Christmas. In all my life (58 years) I have NEVER had Christmas lunch out but I needn't have worried. The meal was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. Not only was there an excellent choice of dishes and excellent quality of food, but portions were a good size and several courses, coffee and mince pies and even crackers to pull really made it a special occasion. Thank you all at the Cross Keys.

China Moon saved the day for us on Saturday. We had booked a table at Jade Palace for valentines weekend and we were still waiting for food almost an hour later. The restaurant was full of smoke so windows were open and it was freezing. We paid for our drinks and left without food as the customer service was appalling. we walked down to China Moon and within 5 minutes we had drinks plus duck & pancakes and had eaten as much as we could within the hour. Thankyou China Moon we thoroughly enjoyed it and you were all so friendly

The menu is quite limited, but boy does the food make up for it !!!, I had the home made chicken liver pate with caramelised onions for my starter and the chicken parcel for main - both were absolutely beautiful. Everything was fresh and the service was second to none. Highly recommended and we`ll be going back very soon.

We have been to the Royal Spice loads of times and it has never let us down. Zaff and his staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is excellent and the prices very reasonable. Thank goodness we live in Darton.

The Royal Spice always comes up trumps, regardless of whether you eat in or take away. I hate curry made for the Brits ie: lacking in heat, spice and authenticity - the food at the Royal delivers on all counts. Try the Fish Karahi dish - amazing.

I’ve eaten there and the food was not bad but could be a lot better would of liked it more if it was homemade and there was not very nice ppl on the bar and behind the carvery on the sunday when i was there

Button Mill Inn – Barnsley

17th October 2009 - Adequate nothing special. Arbroath smoked fish Japanese style interesting but no wrong on so many levels Arbroath smokie with soya, wasabi and pickled ginger on sticky rice smoked salmon might have worked. Confit of duck tender but not roasted till crispy a rather flacid skin spoiled an easy dish. The crab starter was OK but hey dressed crab not difficult. The chicken dish was unmemorable. Food techniques if refined could have lead to a more memorable evening.

Beatson House Restaurant – Barnsley
Charlotte

We've eaten at Beatson many times over the years. The food is quite exceptional - perhaps a little showy but never to mask a lack of taste or skill in preparation. The decor and set up is divine although i have to admit i too hate the car park. Whether its the credit crunch or maybe I'm just paranoid but i couldn't get them to bring me water to save my life - had to ask 3 times! The dining rooms are intimate and so the experience is so relaxing. I'm dying to try the private dining rooms when next we have a family celebration. But the limited space downstairs is so easily spoiled by loud diners. If you only eat one thing try rose petal ice cream - delish.
