The Great British Menu Experience In Ulverston

Craig Sherrington from Virginia House in Ulverston was a first-time competitor on BBC2’s Great British Menu this year and made it right through to finals week. In the show top chefs from across the country compete against each other for the right to cook their dishes (starter, fish course, meat course and dessert) at a gala banquet that’s the culmination of the series. This year’s banquet theme was 70 Years of the NHS and it’s a subject close to home for Craig as both his wife and mother used to work for the NHS.

Craig successfully navigated the North West heats and then wowed the judges with a 10/10 for his main course dish, just missing out on the coveted banquet slot. But you can experience all of Craig’s Great British Menu dishes now each evening at his Ulverston restaurant, which he runs with wife Louise. Each dish from the four-course menu ‘as seen on TV’ is served with props and a personal introduction from Craig. It’s £100 per person with an optional matched wine flight for an additional £50. There are a maximum of six places per night on the GBM Experience table with dinner commencing at 7pm - bookings for fewer than six guests are very welcome, although you may be joined by like-minded guests also enjoying the experience.
