Long before Rick Stein put Padstow on the culinary map, this picturesque north Cornwall fishing port was a popular destination for visitors. The Metropole Hotel dates back to 1904, when the railways first arrived, and it enjoys an enviable position overlooking the sea and the harbour. Over the years, it’s welcomed some famous names, none more so than the Prince of Wales and (it’s rumoured) Mrs Simpson. Ask for room 6 when you book! Take a look around:
