Kay And Mark

We visited Sottovento this weekend for the first time since it changed hands. We were disappointed. The food was average (I could have prepared food of a similar standard at home). When I go out for a meal and pay £14/£15 for a main course I expect it to be of a higher standard. The starters were slow to arrive (maybe in the hope we would drink more wine) and although they were hot they were nothing special. My husband had sirloin steak next and it looked more like a thin frying steak. It certainly wasn't sirloin, and was tough. My sea bass was also a let down and tasted more of the sauce than the fresh fish I was expecting. Service was slow all night although not awful. The only positive was the pudding (sticky toffee) and the owner/manager was very pleasant and welcoming. The only reason we didn't complain was because we were treated to the meal by a relative and we didn't want to offend. We will eat at the Milan next time - food is of a far higher quality.

enjoyed the Indian/Chinese buffet here last night. would suggest, if they read this - forget the Chinese aspect. there were only 4 dishes, they were nice, but there's already a huge Chinese buffet in town. i would have preferred 4 more lovely Indian dishes. I'd also say the food was very oily. Delicious though, nicely spiced, good drink selection (non alcoholic) and nice surroundings

Love this place, excellent service, amazing food and choices, specials are always tempting. The service and warmth received from Stefan and his team just adds to the great atmosphere. Can't wait for my next visit.

Highly recommend this restaurant - great food, great atmosphere, great music and a really impressive refurb. Like the fact that you can see the chefs prepare your meal. Have now been a few times and have had steaks and pasta and always been delighted. Like it so much have booked a private function there.

Awesome!

Achari – Bolton

We are regular visitors to Achari. The food is always first class, the waiters friendly and there is a wide range of choices on the menu from traditional dishes to more contemporary options. Special mention should be made regarding the Sunday sampler menu. Starter, main, side dish and rice for £11 with the whole menu available. Incredible value and always busy. Give it a go - you will not be disappointed.

I visited here with friends four friends last night for the first time (we previously have been loads of times and enjoyed in when it was Baroccos) The refurbishment was excellent and much needed and the food was fine (not fantastic) but enjoyable apart from my starter brushetta with goats cheese as the brushetta was burnt. As soon as we arrived we ordered a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc as we do in all the restaurants we visit monthly when we meet up. We ordered a second bottle at the table but they had run out and offered us a bottle of rose Prosecco instead which was lovely and refreshing. My complaints about the restaurant are: There was no gap between courses - the garlic bread arrived with the starter followed by the main course with no time lapse and the next thing we were being asked about sweets. The young staff must have asked us about seven times how are evening went and by 10:00 they were clearing up behind us drying and clattering all the knives and forks and obviously anxious to get rid of us. So as we are used to our relaxing evenings locally at the former Baroccos, Toby Inn Edgworth, San Marino Belmont, Budda Lounge Ramsbottom, this was not the case. The bill, we couldn't believe - it was extortionate for what we had as two of us just ate pasta. It came to over £30 per head and we had only had two bottles of wine. Normally we drink at least four or five for that price and are left to chill and relax. The Sauvignon Blanc was priced at an amazing £20 per bottle and the Prosecco £18. The mark up on these nice but average wines was way too much and the young staff clearly wanted to leave early - so we were left very much disappointed and will be sticking to our regular haunts from now on - which is a shame as it is very local.

Brilliant! We had a really lovely meal here on Tuesday 16 August 2011 and we thought it was well worth a recommendation. The restaurant looks very plain from the outside but don't be put off by this; the inside is pleasant, modern with nice fittings, lighting etc. We had a nice booth seat with a circular table we thought was nice. The menu is traditional Indian food with some special dishes included. For starters we had poppadoms, chutneys, a mixed starter and onion bhajis. The onion bhajis were enormous and would hardly fit on the plate. What I liked was that they were crispy and had no soggy bits of onion inside them. We also especially liked one of the chutneys the starters came with it was a red sweet and sour concoction - I could have eaten the whole pot! All of the starter food was delicious, hot, spicy and nicely presented. The starters came with fresh salad and lemon. For the main course we had a tandoori shaslick with salad, lamb madras, vegetable curry sauce, plain rice and chips. We were really impressed with the quality of the food. The meat was fantastic with no stringy bits and the madras sauce was really tasty. The portions were LARGE. We gave the meal 10/10. I would add that the service was nice and friendly and I had house wine with my meal which was nice and very drinkable. There were two of us and the meal came to under £40 which we thought was very reasonable given what we had! Helen

This restaurant (previously Madison's) is now under new management and is an Indian Restaurant. The staff and service are great and there are some really great dishes to try. They also do Thali, (a bit like tapas), so you can try a selection of different dishes.

Not impressed. Visited when it first re-opened and was very impressed so I decided to take my dad for his birthday yesterday. The starter took over an hour to arrive and was of very 'standard' quality, the main courses again very 'standard' sausage & mash is literally just that - oh and a small amount of lumpy gravy - no vegetables. Dry potatoes, clearly boiled to within an inch of their lives! The menu's were photocopied sheets of paper, the toilets were untidy, tissue everywhere, empty toilet rolls etc. I think this place has gone drastically down hill which is a shame, staff seem like they cant be bothered - on the whole not a very pleasant experience!

I often go to La Roma for lunch with my friend and it's always an enjoyable experience. The staff are very polite and welcoming and the menu is very varied. Everything is of the highest standard and you get the impression that you matter as a customer. No one is ever hurried, which is a failing of a lot of Italian restaurants. I recommend La Roma to everyone...go try!!

La Roma Restaurant – Bolton

Visited for the first time one lunchtime last week and had a really enjoyable meal. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I like the way the wine bar and restaurant are separate areas so that you can go for a drink or a meal or both. We will definitely be returning soon.

By far the BEST Indian in Bolton. Fantastic choice of food, wine and cocktails. The service is great and valet parking is a nice touch. Lunch menu includes curry, rice, nan bread and a soft drink for a fiver. You can't beat it!
