Old Cottage Restaurant and Bistro – BridgendQuality food and wines-professional service-warm buzz. Open views of chefs . Fresh food choice beautifully displayed. We have always had a great experience here at this family run restaurant. Very special.
Braseria El Prado – BridgendHave been to The Star a few occasions, mainly family events . I have found the food to be of good quality, but very surprised how expensive this place is, basically for a small pub in a village would you expect to sit with locals in a small table and spend well over £20 for steak and chips ?
The Star Inn – BridgendVisited this place many times always had decent food and service. complained about an overcooked steak and had the waiter cutting it up in front of me and trying to force feed me saying"its not overcooked it lovely just taste it!!" When I refused to pay for the STEAK although willing to pay for the rest of the bill over £50, he pretended to phone the police which was rather intimidating. . We asked to see the owner who was dining in the restaurant at the time and came over and told the waiter to turn the music up so nobody could hear us complain. To which the owner TOLD us we had had too much to drink (1 bottle wine between two) and man handled myself and my wife out of the door
Braseria El Prado – BridgendReally nice decor and furniture. I felt that the service had deteriorated since my last visit had to wait too long between courses. The portions of food were a lot smaller and very expensive. Staff were friendly but it was obvious that they had their regulars who the provided a much more efficient service to. Won't be eating there again, waited to long for courses, small portions and expensive.
Golden Well Restaurant – BridgendGood atmosphere, Good nice, but a bit overpriced for what it was, Dessert disappointing.
The Star Inn – BridgendA wonderful continental experience! Wonderful food and great wine I'll definitely be going back:-)
Braseria El Prado – BridgendGreat atmosphere and Florentino the Bar Man makes fabulous sangria!
Braseria El Prado – BridgendCosy authentic pub . Lovely atmosphere , well presented , fresh flowers , lit candles . Staff are very friendly and cater to individual needs . Wide variety of meals and puddings to chose from , which alter weekly. Homemade Pies and REAL CHIPS!Excellent value for money , portions are large , two meals for £9.99 during some weekday evenings - bargain . Worth a visit!
Ye Olde Wine House Inn – BridgendMy advice - don't go. My mother and I went for Sunday lunch there today. I requested additional gravy when our order was taken. When our food arrived the extra gravy didn't. So, I put the gravy onto our dinners and requested another gravy boat. When the gravy was brought it was barely half full. Halfway through the meal my mother's dinner was dry, so I requested more gravy. We were told that we'd have to wait until the whole restaurant had been served to see if there was any left. Half an hour later my mother reminded the waitress: they brought the gravy out in a small dish. Needless to say we won't be going there again. The waitresses made us feel as if we were being greedy by asking for more gravy. The dinner came to £12.90 for the two of us. I don't think it unreasonable to have more gravy at these prices!
Green Acre Hotel – BridgendI absolutely loved dining out at the Llangeinor Arms. The weather outside was awful, but the atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming. The meal was delicious and the service very prompt. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to try it out!
Llangeinor Arms – BridgendNice place, beamed ceilings food good value for money but Mon to wed 2 meals for 9.99 from a limited but ok menu. rest of the week evening meals more expensive than at lunchtime I notice. Helpful staff who are polite and fresh flowers around the place make it welcoming. Now the smoking an is in place by far nicer to go to. however people do tend to smoke right outside the open door which means it drift in. I believe that according to guidelines this shouldn't be the case. Now have a guest ale as well but think there should be more proper ales thay are popular. The drink priced there are however expensive. and with 20p pot on the price of a pint b4 the budget 2008 this means stella is almost £3.00 a pint and carlburg is £2.85. Thats more expensive than Cardiff centre. Was told it was the brewery not them that increased the price. Contacted the brewery and told drink prices in this establishment was at the landlords discretion....Wot can i say??? there are some down sides to the place, though it has a nice size carpark just up the road people tend to try and park rigt outside and in fine weather if the outside seating is full pedestrians have to push past with little room for them on the pavement between seating and cars. The gentleman's lavatories off the lounge are in dire need of refurbishment although clean. This pub also welcomes families which can be a mixed blessing. if its school holidays and you have a well behaved 12 yr old with you that's one thing if its a 2 week old baby that's another !! When I go out for lunch I don't want a screaming baby next to me Furthermore i don't expect the child to be changed in the main lounge area nor the back "restaurant "area directly in front of me!!! Although beyond the control of the publicans it IS their choice to allow such small children in. The only two other things is that firstly this place doesn't take cards which is a shame. People, inc me in the past ,have had to go to the cashpoint opposite at the local garage which doesn't always work ad Inst free ! The second has already been mentioned and that's the element of swearing by customers in the bar which is very audible in the lounge...and I mean a lot of swearing at the crudest of levels so maybe not as family suitable as you may first think.
Ye Olde Wine House Inn – BridgendNice place go here a bit. Nice Sunday lunches but staff seem to get muddled on a more wider menu and mid week evening meal service can be slow. Drinks not cheap
Angel Inn – Bridgendlove the place nice steaks
Watermill, The – BridgendWe started eating at the restaurant when our son was born 3 years ago as it was close to our home. Not only have we enjoyed many a Sunday lunch, but chose to hold a Christening for 30 + guests which I can only describe as out of this world. One auntie likening it to a mini weeding. Christophe and his staff are most attentive at all times and the food of the most excellent quality. If you want to be impressed or want a meal to go well. This is the place for you.

The Fountain Inn – Bridgendsimply stunning - evening meal commenced with stuffed tomato, baked with herbs and spices, intense rich flavour yet remarkably light - ravioli filled with crab & lime puree simple yet sumptuous - main course "the legendary" beef wellington - Welsh black fillet steak smothered with pate de fois grais wrapped in parma ham & finally enveloped in the lightest egg washed shortcrust pastry - words fail me - this is the finest cuisine I have tasted - the steak simply melted - the pastry was infused with aromas of steak and it's wrappers - moist on the inside yet crispy and golden on the outside - baked to perfection resulting in a medium to rare cooked steak - accompanied by roast fennal, onions, dijon potatoes & julien of roasted veg - the visual impact of garnished dish was soon eclipsed by the richness, intensity and texture of tastes - desert arrived as a mixture of freshly made sorbets - summer fruits, kiwi & mandarin - topped with crystalised fruit and chocolate netting - these little stunners were light, refreshing with an essential concentrated fruit flaovour - all in all 3 courses of sheer luxury - I cannot fault the food, service, welcome or surroundings - a 3 course evening meals @ £29.95 dispels the preconception that eating @ the Coed - Y - Mwster is expensive - food of this quality is worth more than the table price -yes bar prices are expensive - a large G&T costs £6.95 - a pint of lager £3.00 -house wines commence @ £14.95 - exercise restraint @ the bar and you can afford to eat here more often - whats wrong with a nightcap in the comfort of home? - forget the image that this hotel is populated by the gin & jag brigade - I wore jeans & casual shirt -the Edwardian surroundings with log fires & high backed chairs add to the experience -the "Old Pictonians Perambulations Society" is dedicated to the "persuit of fine cuisine" @ the Coed-Y-Mwster we found it -go there & enjoy - you will not be disappointed - highly recommended
Coed-Y-Mwstwr Hotel – BridgendDisappointing experience - smartly dressed friendly staff @ one of Bridgend premier Indian restaurants - regrettably the food failed to match the surroundings & service - Chicken Passanda was weak, lacking depth & flavour - Tandoori Supreme manifested in 2 pieces of chicken tikka, 1 piece of lamb tikka & 2 average size king prawns all lacked flavour and the essential tandori / barbacue taste @ £14.00 this dish was not value for money - all 7 main dishes ordered were small in portion and lacking definition, taste and depth of flavour - regrettably won't be returning or recomending
