Booking made for 7.45, Saturday evening 21st April. We were seated in an out of the way back room with very little atmosphere. Menu was very limited. Quality of food was fine, but rather too pretentious and 'nouvelle cuisine' -type portion sizes. Food was expensive for what was served. Side orders of £3 to add on top of what was quite a pricey main course. Trying hard to be upmarket, not really value for money. Girls serving on were very pleasant and obliging. Don't think we'd go back- too many other restaurants offer good quality food...with much better portion sizes.

I have visited the Old Mill three times in the last month, the first time I was in a party of 5 and we had to wait over an hour for our meal, the second time again in a party of 5 when we had to send one of our orders back as the salmon was not as "fresh" as it should have been. The third time in a party of 4 when 3 of us ordered a chicken dish as our main course, this arrived along with side dishes of salad and chips. The chicken was presented on a bed of "sauce" which I can only liken to barbecue sauce which I never ever put on my food, it spoiled the meal completely, may I suggest if you must include this "sauce" with the chicken meal that you at least put it on one side or preferably in a side dish. Also for some reason the chef decided for me that I would like vinaigrette on my salad -NO! I am a big girl now and would prefer to add "sauces" vinaigrettes, other condiments myself and do not wish to have them added for me prior to being served. It will be a long time before I cross the doorstep of The Old Mill again.

I Hadn't visited this place for a long time, in fact i think the last time i did it was trying to be a night club!, anyway the place is very much a more relaxed place to be than it once was these days!, and the food was excellent quality with the staff very polite, the waitress did get my bill mixed up initially but the problem was rectified with no major fuss.Great Ales, Stella on tap, and a generally nice place to be, would like to see the kids playground 're-appear' however as we do have kids to entertain as sure this place is nice in the summer months by the stream.

I have been going to this place for the few times now. I am very pleased with it. The food here is great and cheap. The waiter service is great. I love visiting the Bengal and to have a laugh with the boys. They are just great guys. The best of the food are the Onion Bhajis and Mughal E Azam.

Went here in a group of 10, which didn't slow the service down at all. We used the two-course deal and I had the tzatziki (delicious) followed by chicken izgara and saute potatoes (lovely). Would definitely come back.

When you first walk into this place it looks like a dodgy old pub..but then you are taken upstairs to a beautiful big room with high ceilings and lots of space. The tables are spread apart so that you feel like you are there on your own and can have your own private conversation which is lovely. The lady who took our order never smiled and did this scary thing of writing down our order without looking at her order pad but staring into our eyes so intently that i thought she was trying to hypnotise us!..However, that didn't put us off.The food was really lovely and good value for money and the rest of the staff friendly.Had a wonderful meal and will definitely go again.

One of my favourite restaurants! If visiting at lunchtime, try the excellent Pizzonis for something different. The restaurant accommodated about 50 friends and family for my 30th birthday, and everything went without hitch. Staff are always friendly and keen to help. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

Great service and good food - the place is modern but a little tacky. The menu is suspiciously like one I have seen in a near by city which was around before them but all in all an experience which was admirable.

We went to the Great Wall on Thursday, April 1 2010 and had a great time. The staff are the friendliest we have encountered at any restaurant. We had the banquet for two and every course was excellent and great value for money. We have lived nearby for 12 years but this was our first visit. It certainly wont be another 12 years before we visit again.

Very stylish restaurant, very clean. We received a very friendly welcome, the staff are really friendly and attentive. The service is first class and the food is lovely. We had the mixed kebabs, which we couldn't finish however hard we tried! You will not be disappointed, can't wait to go back.

My husband and I dine here often, and a friend of ours won't eat anywhere else when he visits from the south - in fact it's his favourite place! The food is always top quality and value for money, all the staff are so welcoming. A Saturday night visit is a must for the entertainment - book a table for 9pm - great atmosphere.

I've been going to Brook's on and off since a Christmas do in about 1998. Its a great place to eat, really tasty food just on the right side of not-too-fussy. Efficient and professional staff, some interesting booze to be had...at the end of the night you can kick back in the upstairs lounge with a last drink. Did I mention you can draw on the table clothes?

Awful restaurant, very bossy Manager who would not let us have a drink at the bar before our meal, insisted that we sat at a table! Ordered stuffed mushrooms it arrived with 2 mushrooms closed cup mushrooms at that so hardly big, another of our party had poached pears and prosuitto salad to start and it took all of 2 mouthfuls to eat, pears were tinned! Soup was cold, and mains decidedly average.Desserts were slightly better, cheesecake with summer berries had half a strawberry as the 'berries' misleading to say the least, wont be wasting my money there again

Food is definitely very good and has improved over the years we have been going. Only problem is the new menu with similar items as before but higher prices, which we have seen rise 40% in the last 2 years making it a lot less value for money

I have visited Brooks over a number of years, the food is excellent - good winelist, not too pricy - good selection of bottle beers, the decor shabby chic with eclectic art work - very stylish. Try the spam fritters - they are famous! And the puds are scrummy!
