Dined there on 29/12/2009. Excellent meal, attentive waiters, good service everything required for a good restaurant, very reasonably priced. It was our 2nd visit & it was just as memorable as the 1st time.

Galileo Pizzeria – Brighton and HoveHey guys i use your site a lot to look at good places to go I did not see the review on this restaurant until after i had been there, but i so agree the food was so well presented and the service was to a level of a 5 star hotel they do a set 2 Course Menu for £9.95 in the evening i have paid over £25 for a meal like this in a very good well known restaurant in Brighton, The owner said he just wants to put a good priced menu with locally purchased products. Thumbs up guys i think you going to do well, good rustic British food.
East Street – Brighton and HoveThis is a little gem newly opened I think the service was second to none, the homemade fish cakes were the best i had in ages , my partner had Devils Mushrooms to start then the Lamb Henrey followed by Eaton mess Cheesecake witch i must admit i had a sneaky bit she was not looking. The wines were equally as good as the food we had a fantastic rode from the trulli vinard and at £18.95 a bottle its better priced than my local off licence so overall fantastic night we booked at 7pm and stayed till 11.30pm so that says something well done Top Marks
East Street – Brighton and HoveBanker, food is fresh and high in quality. The service is good and with a smile.
Bankers Fish Restaurant – Brighton and HoveA Splash of Caribbean Flavor in Rottingdean! While spending a weekend down on the coast, I tucked into the Queen Victoria Pub to get out of the rain. The interior was welcoming and clean and the bar was appealing. Besides good pub food, I was delighted to find a few items on the menu and on the specials board that would soon make up for the gray and wet day. I chose a fresh fish meal with vegetables and Caribbean rice in a lovely sauce from the board and was astounded when it was brought to me. The delivery was spectacular! The plate looked like something you would find in a **** restaurant. The fish was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were tender and each had it's own distinct flavour. I am not a big rice fan, but the peas and rice were a hit; the sauce simply luscious. I thanked the waitress and found out that Drixi is German-born and married to Chef Benjie who is Jamaican. Cudos for fantastic food, friendly service, good value and pleasant surroundings. Benjie's has not seen the last of me! Oooh! The couple also cater parties in the pub or private events in your home. Benjie's finger-food is to die for.
Benjies at the Queen Victoria Pub – Brighton and HoveThis place has so much to offer with the historic building and the beer garden but is sadly going from bad to worse. They announced that they were cutting their prices as a contribution to addressing the credit crunch, but unfortunately the quality of the food and the size of the portions has plummeted faster than the stock market. Our lasagne was so dried out it only filled 2/3 of the dish, which was already what I would consider a 'small appetite' size. The roast turkey was out of a packet rather than an oven and my roast dinner was reminiscent of the worst of the offerings from a pub chain.... sorry, it was worse... I kid you not, there was ONE brussel sprout and the carrots had been round the block a few times. The service was slow and half-baked. This used to be a fine pub-restaurant but urgently requires an injection of quality and care..... do go there to enjoy the environs but you certainly will not enjoy the food! BEST AVOIDED!
Hangleton Manor – Brighton and HoveI was very disappointed with the standard of presentation of food at this restaurant. Looking around at the plates brought to other diners, I noted that it didn't seem to matter what one ordered, the style of presentation was organised around exactly the same features or twirly bits and spots of jous! I thought this restaurant did not deserve its ranking as the best vegetarian restaurant in Brighton. It might have once been the best when it was the only one in its genre of restaurant but it compares poorly against "Food for Friends", another Brighton restaurant in the same category of restaurants. On a national scale, T a T also compares poorly against vegetarian restaurants like David Bann's in Edinburgh - another classy veg restaurant.
Terre à Terre – Brighton and Hoveexcellent food, very good service and a lovely atmosphere
Orsinos – Brighton and HoveOHSO Social has an excellent location, unfortunately that is where the compliments end. As we were in a large group (19), we had chosen the buffet option for lunch (should have been £12, but ended up being £16). We had originally booked for 25, but only ended up having 19, we had to pay the difference for the missing 6 people as we were told they had sufficiently catered for the 25. Upon paying extra, we were disappointed to find the food barely feed the 19. Lunch also consisted of little more than cheese and crackers with a few pieces of bread (not enough for the group), 2 salads and a small plate full of salami. Thinking this was the entree, we were excited about the remainder of the meal. Unfortunately we found out that this was considered the main course, with an additional "casserole" served in coffee cups. The "casserole" consisted of a tomato type sauce and a few chunks of cheap sausage, they also only brought out 16 casseroles, although we paid for 25! The only consolation to the terrible meal was the bottle of "free" champagne they offered - 1 bottle for 19 people, and 4 wine glasses. A great day was overshadowed by the terrible (expensive) meal and service. I suggest you stick to just drinking here, and eat somewhere else!

The veggies are taken care of well - i was pleased and glad to see that somewhere that cooks meat well can also offer a real vegetarian option and my husband a really meat lover - loved the beef - cooked to perfection and really tender. Good value for money as the plates are piled high. its now my fave place in hove!
