This is my all time favourite restaurant. The food is outstanding and the equivalent of many starred London restaurants. Why it doesn't have a star baffles me. Service is great - unobtrusive, friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend Cassons to anyone who enjoys dining at it's best.

Have had lunch several times - fabulous food and fabulous service. Looking forward to trying dinner, as I didn't realise dinner was an option!!!! I always try to support local businesses as we need them as much as they need us.

Field and Fork – Chichester
The Waterside

As of summer 2009 The Waterside has reopened its doors. Now under new management and sensitively refurbished it offers a new dining experience within Chichester. With table service throughout, from the canal’s edge to the front terrace, you can enjoy locally sourced ingredients, including Selsey caught crab and lobster and 28 day hung beef with a glass of wine from our extensive wine list. Booking advisable

we were really impressed by this restaurant. The food was interesting and well cooked and they even had a recommended Indian wine that we'd had in India on the wine list. The price was good value and the staff very nice.

We enjoyed the most amazing seafood and welcome at the newly opened Fish House at Chilgrove near Chichester. Having been previous customers at David Barnard's previous establishments in Berkshire and Yorkshire, we already knew we were in for a treat. Yet once again David has managed to excel himself, he must have a magic wand. Everything had the wow factor, all the furniture and fittings were of the highest standard and the restaurant has such a relaxed and elegant ambience. The scallops with carrot and orange delivered a wonderful freshness to the palate, followed by whole brill with fresh herbs and shrimps, all organic and delicious. Puddings to die for, and simply divine cheeses. Can't wait for the Hotel to open soon.

Ambience fine, food fine, price fine, service the worst I've ever had anywhere! Arrived 7.30 pm and eventually served at 9.50 pm without any apology whatsoever for the extreme delay. Truly disgraceful, especially the waitress's attitude ("I'm only the waitress"). She really couldn't give a damn. They obviously don't know the marketing statistic: lose a customer through bad service and you'll actually lose eight potential customers. There were seven of us so do the maths! Terrible, terrible, terrible!

Great ambience and decor in an old Church.Handy for recitals and services in Chichester Cathedral just opposite. Very relaxing , with lots of leather sofas and nooks for a cosy chat . The food is good, nice variety and the churros for dessert with dipping sauces are delicious. The weekday lunchtime buffet is excellent, with choice of soups , bread, jacket potatoes and salad selections for £4.95! From time to time there are monthly special offers which are great value. Pleasant and helpful staff.

I today visited The Partridge Inn Singleton for lunch with my friend. We very often meet up there, particularly in the summer, as it is pleasant to sit in the garden. After today's visit and the pantomime I witnessed, however I, nor my friend will return. I certainly will not be recommending it to anyone either. We sat at a table and a couple of more mature years sat on the table next to us. they ordered their food, and after a while, my friend and I ordered ours. Ours turned up, and we were halfway though our meal when the couple on the table beside us received theirs. The lady's scampi was burnt (quite badly) and she mentioned this politely to the waitress who took it back to the kitchen. The young waitress then returned with the same plate of food and advised that the 'chef' had said there was nothing wrong, and it 'should be crisp or else the middle would be soggy' My friend is actually a qualified chef and was in total disbelief. This was black in many places. When the lady cut the scampi open the breadcrumbs just shot all over the plate, where it was so dried out, and the scampi was a shrivelled dry lump. The waitress then came out and asked if everything was OK. The lady advised that no it wasn't, and she wouldn't be eating it (again she was very polite) The waitress took the plate away, then advised the lady that they would then cook another. The lady clearly said no she didn't want another (her partner had nearly finished his meal by this time). 10 minutes later a plate of Scampi arrived, and the lady advised AGAIN (very politely and patiently) that she didn't want it. The waitress took the plate away. Within seconds a man came storming over with the plate of food, and bellowed for all to hear (even made the people in the other part of the pub look) 'What exactly is wrong with this!!' She (again) politely replied that she had declined the offer of another plate when it was FINALLY offered to her. (As mentioned it was too late her partner had nearly finished). He then stormed off, and within a couple of minutes the poor waitress went outside in floods of tears. When the chap went to pay for the food, he said he didin't think he should pay for the Scampi, and AGAIN the Landlord berrated him, in a very loud voice for all to hear. The whole pub fell silent. It was a complete shambles. The lady was in tears on leaving. In in all my years of working in the public eye, I have NEVER seen such a display from such a nasty arrogant bully. I feel very sorry for the staff if this is the kind of outlandish, balshy, childish behaviour they have to put up with, and would not blame them one bit if anyone of them decided to take the matter further, should the anger be directed at them. I would like to suggest that this man firstly takes anger management councelling, and then either takes a course on dealing with members of the public, or maybe even steps out of the hospitality industry all together.

Food arrived quickly, place looks the part from the outside and inside, quality of food was not as good as a descent takeaway, bland and all the same colour. We had a fixed menu for two (£39 ish)consisted of a starter (mixture of nibbles couple of ribs and small pancake rolls) Then a quarter duck (waiter kindly desecrated the creature at the table!) main (rice not special!,some veg thing, an orange prawn thing and a brown chicken thing!) And that was it a diet coke for the wife and two beers for me and that will be £50 thank you!

What a lovely feel to this pub with wood floors, comfortable sofas and tea lights twinkling on the tables in the restaurant. I particularly loved the row of tea lights in glasses on the mantleshelf and a magnificent display of flowers. With Frank Sinatra playing in the background and beautifully prepared food it was the perfect place for our anniversary meal. And, at the end of the evening, a short walk over the road to a fantastic 5 star b&b called Rookshill.

My Husband and I have now eaten in India Gate twice, and both visits have been outstanding! The food is delicious, and freshly cooked to order. There is an excellent choice, including Ostrich Tikka, should one so desire! The service is very friendly and caring, and the atmosphere relaxing. We cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.
