Colin

The warm welcome was particularly appreciated on a rather cold chilly night and the superb food and excellent service made for thoroughly enjoyable evening. We were a party of 6 having various starters and mains. Everyone without exception thought their food to be excellent. Both the landlord (Colin) and his wife took time to check that everything was to our satisfaction and to engage in small conversation. A small homely pub with a good menu choice is definitely recommended. We will be returning.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Queen Adelaide today. The service was very good, we were made to feel very welcome, by the owners and staff. The food was really enjoyed by all 5 of us. I phoned a few days ahead of our booking to discuss my dietary requirements and nothing was too much trouble. Which meant I could enjoy my meal and socialise without worry about what I was going to eat. I would highly recommend you them a try.

Hi there, when to this pub for Sunday lunch on 13/7/2014 to have Sunday roast. I was shocked to see chicken was not on menu as a Sunday roast. My partner ordered food and my ageded mother in law order lamb roast dinner. When this came out it was meat that she couldn't eat, in fact I wouldn't have given this to my dog, we paid £13.99 for this meal which she couldn't eat when this was brought to the staffs attention they just said sorry end of. I won't be using this pub again and ask every one that's thinking of going there to check this out. Bad service if something goes wrong they don't want to know.

Very welcomig and friendly pub. The food is very good and a varied menus. Good outdoor space on warmer days and good choice of wines.

We visited recently as it has been taken over and were not disappointed. There's now a lovely garden restaurant at the back and a terrace if the weather is fine. My partner had the steak and said that it was one of the best he had ever had and I had a goats cheese tart which was delicious. I noticed that they are doing steak promotion on Wed night so maybe we'll come back then! We didn't have dessert but they are all home made.

We arrived at The Pelly on a cold Spring day and were met by friendly staff and a blazing log fire. The pub has been refurbished to a very high standard and the food and service was excellent as well as being reasonably priced.

One previous lunchtime visit was sufficiently encouraging to return for a Christmas meal. This however turned out to be very disappointing in all respects and no element of food or service gained better than 4 out of 10. Our thoughts are that the award winning former owners and staff must have gone on holiday with the pickings from that award. Was early 2009 a flash in the pan? A la carte? Definitely not!

One of the very best meals we've had for a long time & in such a beautiful place with wonderful friendly service. Can't wait to return. I would recommend to anyone.

The Plough was a really good find. The ambiance was of old beams, stuffed trout on the wall and a roaring fire in an inglenook fireplace. The food was splendid, chosen from a small menu; no articulated lorries delivering choice and value but only moderately good taste- no it was just delicious food at the Plough. The price was acceptable too. The Beer was something to write about as well- bright as a star with a handsome taste. As my wife said, as the winter draws on we shall be going back there to roast ourselves in the inglenook and enjoy a pint or two of good English ale, and good local food.

East Harptree (Waldegrave Arms) - superb pub and restaurant. The one at Chewton Mendip ain't bad but this one is superb and the sauces you'd die for. Added bonus of extremely attractive waitresses and serving staff. It doesn't get much better than this.

Delicious food all home cooked, and made using local produce, wide ranging menu that changes every day but still has favourites on there all the time such as whitebait with homemade tartare, homemade burgers and sticky toffee pudding. Lovely atmosphere and good wine and beer

Been here many times, its in Chewton Mendip, Friday nights is fresh fish night better get there on time because its so popular. Table bookings not usually allowed so need to be there early! Often full by 6.20 pm on a Friday and not a table until 8.30pm or later; but well worth it. Do fantastic home cooked poies and steaks, not so good for a veggie; but then you can't do
