Excellent meal, could not fault anything at all. Cannot think why we had not returned before now.

The Vanilla Pod – MarlowLovely restaurant in the beautiful town of Marlow. Spoilt for choice in these parts! Would recommend.
The Vanilla Pod – MarlowThe Marlow Donkey looks a lot better from the outside. Inside is OK but in need of either being modernised or reverting to a traditional look and feel. My burger was very pleasant and was my friends slider of different burgers. Prices reasonable as was the Guiness.
The Marlow Donkey – MarlowI can't recommend the Giggling Squid highly enough. The decor is bright, simple, stylish and modern with exposed beams, white washed walls and reclaimed timbers. The service is warm and friendly. The "rustic" Thai cooking is some of the best I've encountered anywhere - including Thailand on four trips. And great value -especially the lunch time Thai Tapas" sets which cost around a tenner. There's plenty of seafood all cooked to perfection, although - although my massaman lamb curry was outstanding.
Giggling Squid – MarlowJust arrived home from my first and definitely last visit to the "new" Britannia (Marlow). We were greeted by a very friendly waiter who unfortunately sat us on a table next to a electronic gambling machine. An hour and a half had passed and we still hadn't received our food. Our waiter came over to ask us if we had our food, we then explained that we hadn't. We also had no drinks. He came back to the table and said that the food had been ruined by the chefs and was being cooked again. We waited for another 15 minutes. The manager arrived at our table with an apology. When the food eventually arrived the two steak dishes that my family had ordered were nicely cooked (although were strangely served with two metal bowls of butter). We also asked for mustard which we were told they didn't have.I had ordered the steak and ale pie which was so burned and blackened that I had to call the manager again and send it back. It had clearly been sat on the pass under the heat whilst the other dishes were being re-done. In the end I ended up having nothing. The manager kindly didn't charge us for either the drinks or the meal, but the whole ordeal was embarrassing and a complete shambles. Two words: VERY DISAPPOINTING!
The Britannia – MarlowWent for a farewell drink for a colleague from Marlow Youth football club there today (Sunday) and quite shocked by the rudeness of the landlady. Empty when we arrived and had spent several hundred pounds by the time the bar suddenly filled with young drinkers at 11.30pm. Despite no signs landlady said we had to clear pub for private party. 20 minutes later we were threatened with being barred unless we left immediately. When we complained she sent several young men to threaten us. Not somewhere to go for more than a quick drink. Threatening and unpleasant. Marlow Donkey and other views far more accommodating.
The Ship – MarlowExcellent food Excellent service
Maliks of Marlow – MarlowMy wife and I visited for lunch on 5 January 2011. We were in early and it was very quiet, no doubt due to the time and season. The staff were suitably attentive without being on top of us. The starter, Marechi Paneer, was glorious - whenever I have eaten at Maliks I try to have that to start with as it is a thing of wonder. We then shared a Murgh Korai and Sag Aloo, with Pulao Rice and a Plain Naan. The rice was lovely and fragrant. My wife is very sensitive to hot food, so the Murgh and Sag were excellent for her - just full of flavour, and lovely big chunks of fresh, tender chicken breast.. Malik's is undoubtedly the best in the area, by a significant margin. Tim Child
Maliks of Marlow – Marlowvery very disappointed, the Christmas dinner was awful, we will never go back again.
The Bull Inn – MarlowWe went for lunch here recently, the place was very busy and had a cracking atmosphere. We were amazed that even though they have a Michelin Star they offered a two course lunch for £10! My wife had a roasted tomato and basil soup which she said was delicious, home made breads, followed by a kind of de-constructed lasagne which she hasn't stopped talking about. I opted for two homemade fishcakes with capers and a very nice sauce and some of the best chips I have ever had, cooked in a way I haven't encountered before. We shared a lemon posset for dessert. Stunning!
