Charming bistro overlooking the Castle. Good menu and relaxed but exclusive atmosphere. Delicious food, promptly served and live piano music the night we were there. An oasis of calm eating in the centre of Cearnarfon.

Lovely meal, lovely staff - very knowledgable regarding menu options for those with food intolerances. Setting in the Old Courthouse was excellent - overlooking the castle. Thoroughly wonderful experience - thank you.

Fantastic food. Very well sourced ingredients We all agreed that all the food was excellent but the highlight was the lamb which we all thought was the best we’d ever had. Wine list well chosen. Rioja fantastic. Wonderful ambiance and we all loved the piano recital.

Recently on a short break, we stumbled on this venue, being a Thursday we chose not to dine that evening as only one table was occupied and very little atmosphere. We booked for the Friday assuming it would be busier and have a little more atmosphere, we were wrong as there was just one couple dining. I ordered linguine and my friend ordered 2 starters as a main, scallops and chicken wings. The food was placed in front of us and the waitress walked away. The scallops had no caviar so we pointed this out to the waitress who called someone else and skulked away. We were told the chef had no caviar so had given 1 extra scallop instead. We were not informed of the change at any time or given the opportunity to change the dish, there was no apology and it was as if they were doing a favour offering 1 extra scallop instead. We had no choice but to eat what we had been given and be thankful. Will not return due to the lack of customer service given

We had a lovely time at The Old Courthouse. We were a party of 7 and the booking process was straight forward and stress free. Between us, we had ordered most things on the menu and everyone enjoyed the food. Thank you to Moira and team for a great dining experience.

We discovered the Old Courthouse whilst on holiday. We had a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. There was a good choice of dishes on the menu without feeling overwhelmed.

Highly recommended. Good food. Good wine. Good service. I did wonder how many people were sentenced to the gallows or deportation from the very rooms. Salutary thoughts.

This is an all round super find. The Old Courthouse is set in the old magistrates court within the town walls but overlooking the castle. The venue is super. It’s open with plenty of space and importantly clean and very well kept. Service is a delight. The food menu was just right. Not too much choice but enough for everybody’s palate! The food itself was exceptional. Overall a fantastic evening. Thank you!!!

We had a delicious meal at Y Fainc/The Bench @The Old Courthouse - a warm welcome & interesting chats with Moira the owner too. The venue is a real labour of love, steeped in history - the small theatre space ideal for events. Definitely recommend, a great asset to enjoy in Caernarfon.

I booked the Old Courthouse for a group of 26 sailors visiting Caernarfon. We had a most wonderful evening thanks to Moira who provided us with lovely food and hospitality. We had quite a sing song and musical evening with Moira also joining with with her lovely piano playing. I recommend highly the restaurant and thank everyone for making our visit so memorable.
