Came here last night (Friday) and immediately noticed that all of the tables had the cutlery the wrong way round! Mentioned this to staff, but nothing was done except on our table, and we were the only people in the restaurant! Scallops and cod tacos for starters were tasty, but the actual tacos were black and not at all enjoyable, but the cod was lovely. Sea bass was very tasty but the cod for the main course was tasteless. Also, the chef had put salt on the cod - NO!!!!! extra seasoning should be for the customer to do. I had to pick mine up and shake it off, it was far too much salt. Having to order potatoes as an extra was a bit of an imposition, and the portions of vegetables as extras were miniscule. I expected larger portions for the price that was being charged. Having said that, the pea puree was divine. Although a few more customers arrived, the restaurant was cold and I had to wear my coat whilst eating. However, the Chocolate brownie with caramel ice cream was delicious, and rounded the meal off nicely. Altogether, not the best experience for the money, we won't be rushing back which is a shame as the building is so beautiful.

We were welcomed like old friends; seated at the window table, overlooking the castle. Our host recommended drinks , in particular the Bundaberg non-alcoholic ginger beer for the driver, and then provided the menu. We elected to have the smoked salmon, the carpaccio and the soup of the day (butternut squash) all were delicious. Our main courses were ribeye steak, cooked to perfection (rare), sea bass with an artichoke salad and the beef cottage pie. All beautifully presented and again delicious. We finished the meal with affogato, crème brûlée and warm chocolate brownie. All-in-all a delightful evening, a superb location and a charming affable host. If I lived in or near Caernarfon The Bench would be a regular haunt. Thank you.

We chose here for our anniversary meal. A lovely venue, couldn't have chosen better, we had the window table overlooking the castle. A great meal, we each had the rib eye which was excellent, very tender and flavoursome. Great staff, great meal, lovely surroundings. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Great meal and lovely friendly staff. Can't work out why we were the only ones in there.! Maybe some soft furnishings would help acoustics as was quite echoey?

We had a lovely evening. Sitting in the window, looking at the castle walls in a peaceful room was very relaxing. Service was great: friendly and pleasant. All of our choices were delicious. A special mention to my chicken main course which was tender and full of flavour. I would thoroughly recommend The Bench for a great evening.

The restaurant has a lovely calm feel to it, both the food and service were excellent and we even had the pleasure of listening to the baby grand piano being gently played. A thoroughly enjoyable meal and excellent value for money.

A big disappointment. Nothing against the staff, who were helpful and polite, but we were greeted with a list of meals that weren't available, followed by another two that we did try and order. My meal was supposed to come with rice but arrived with flatbread instead because "we haven't got any rice". Final insult was the option to tip for this complete lack of full options. No wonder the place was empty at 8pm on a Saturday night.

Visited here last week, booked for 8pm. Got seated after a table of 7/8 arrived before us. Lovely big room but it was freezing cold, we noticed some diners were sitting with scarfs and jackets on eating their meals. A table behind us even had an electric heater under their table. The waitress was on her own, making cocktails, serving them and the food from the kitchen aswell. Our starters took about 50 minutes to arrive from sitting down which is a long time as not many others were eating at this point. All in all the food was very good and the waitress lovely, i think more staff could be needed and some heating on would make it much more pleasant.

Lovely venue with a cool quiet atmosphere. Very elegant but relaxed and unpretentious. On arrival, we were seated by the owner. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Food delicious: perfectly cooked and presented and well priced for the quality. The owner plays the piano in the restaraunt as well, which adds a lovely unique touch to the evening. Highly recommended.

Really nice meal Chicken dish and fish dish

A wonderful restaurant and venue, steeped in history and right up to date. Excellent food and service. Would return and will look out for events in the adjoining concert hall.

Absolutely fantastic little gem of a restaurant food is unreal the lady who owns it is so nice and played piano last night aboustley fantastic x
