Maenllwyd Inn – CaerphillyMy Family and i had a great visit at Crossways Caerphilly... All team were so friendly... Service with a smile will return again. Carol date dinned: 06.07.09
Crossways Brewers Fayre – CaerphillyOur fav place for quality italian food...always get a good welcome. Midweek is the best time to go...
Bella-Capri – CaerphillyNice food with a home cooked feel rather rare these day's. 10x better than these buy one get one free place's you find everywhere. A good menu with good prices
Masons Arms, The – CaerphillyWouldn't eat here I seen them bring out a meal previously returned as the wrong order the person had cut into the corner. They then tried to serve the exact same meal to the person on the next table!
Caerphilly Moat House – CaerphillyTry to go when it's quieter. Midweek is peaceful and the staff are attentive. Weekends are bustling and feel a little more chaotic. The food is beautiful and the chef will make a stunning carbonara if you ask nicely!
Bella-Capri – CaerphillyExcellent food cooked to the highest quality. Very reasonably priced menu with very friendly staff to go with it. Once you've been once and sampled you'll be back again and again.
Masons Arms, The – CaerphillyThe front of house staff were attentive but the kitchen staff are lacking. One person at our table ordered the chef special chicken in a spicy mince sauce....there was no mince. They bulked up all the dishes with large chunks of onion so 1/2 of the dish was lamb, chicken or whatever meat ordered and the other 1/2 was onion. Finally all of the sauces were bog standard from a jar. The chef messed up other orders as well not cooking what was ordered.
Raj of India – CaerphillyGood food & real beers, competitive prices with friendly family atmosphere.
White Hart Inn – CaerphillyI would not recommend the cedar tree, we went there for my fathers 70th Birthday at 7.30 on 23.06.08, no steak left so had to re-order 8 meals, husband and son had lamb shank and have been sick and had upset stomach all night. Order not taken until 8.20pm waitress very nice and apologetic, I blame it on bad management.
Cedar Tree Country Carvery, The – CaerphillyWe visited the Maenllwyd on 29th February 2008, intending to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were so disgusted at the treatment that we received from the 'Table Manager' that we left without sampling the food and would now never return. Our crime to sit on a table that could accommodate more than 2 people, we were given the choice of sitting by the door to the car park (bearing in mind it was a cold and rainy winter’s night) or going on the waiting list for a table to become vacant. As we’d arrived just after 6pm, had to get back to collect our children by 8.30pm and already had a table this didn’t seem a very good option. We were also accused of removing the ‘reserved sign’ from the table, if there had been a sign, as there was on the table opposite, we would not have sat there in the first instance. As the ‘Table Manager’ was quite adamant that he was not going to serve us and actually walked away from the table saying he would ‘get someone to sort us out’ we decided that the stalemate was not going to be resolved, so we left. It was incredibly disappointing to be treated with such contempt by someone who should have been concerned about customer service not just the profit that would be made by seating more people at the table.
Maenllwyd Inn – CaerphillyI've been to this beautiful pub three times and never been disappointed. The food is amazing, I've not heard a single complaint from anyone whenever we've eaten there. The specials are always fantastic, the service is great and the pub itself has such character - low ceilings and log burning fires. Great selection of beers, ales and wines. Highly recommended. They don't accept table reservations though so you need to get there early as it gets really busy!!
Maenllwyd Inn – CaerphillyFour of us visited this restaurant for a birthday night out with a friend. We found it very pricey for what we got. The food was very bland for an Italian restaurant, I ordered mushrooms in a creamy sauce to start with and they tasted like tinned mushrooms to me, and the sauce had no flavour at all. My husband asked for a well done steak which came dripping with blood. The service wasn't the best either, we were just left for most of the evening, nobody checking to order us more drinks etc. Would definitely never go there again, and we are not actually fussy people!! The tattoo covered hands of the owner (or we presumed he was the owner anyway) were not too classy either!
Bella-Capri – Caerphillyvery good sunday lunch - good value and service. Beers too are excellent
White Hart Inn – Caerphillyexcellent Sunday lunch overflowing with fresh veggies ! Lovely people
