Fabulous food

Decided to have a number of starters and masala dosa with two friends. The food was amazing. In fact it was that good one friend checked if they did take out in order to share a take away the following day with his wife, he loved it that much!

Outstanding visit as always! I love it here and decided to bring some friends this time. We had a range of food such as the stuffed kozhukattai (so delicious), chicken thoran dosa with Sambar (wow!), Thalassery Lamb Briyani to the chicken ghassi. All the food was rich, tasty and layered with flavour and spices. Loved the selection of beers and wines. We enjoyed a few pints of cobra and shared a bottle of the Pinot Grigio which was lovely and very reasonably priced. My only recommendation would be to play a bit of traditional Indian music in the background and maybe have some incense burning while guests are dining to enhance the experience! But nonetheless this restaurant is an absolute gem and the owners are lovely people, I really appreciate the fact they come and talk to the guests after they’ve eaten and really get to know their customers. You can’t ask for better service than that. Can’t wait to go back again

Having had the run of the mill curry for years and never had an alternative. Well, here it is. Outstanding, spices bouncing around your palate. If you have tied the rest, you surely need to go and try the best.

Popped in for a quick meal. Such great value for money and even if you are not there for long/not spending loads on a huge meal the welcome and service is still excellent. Love living round the corner from ammas!

Get another angle on Indian food! Authentic South Indian cuisine is quite different from your usual 'three curries and rice' fair. Creative, colourful and tasty dishes served in a friendly and informal atmosphere. I treated my partner to a surprise birthday dinner here and she liked it enormously. Worth making the trip and worth booking to avoid disappointment.

Amazing service, ambience and lovely food

Had an excellent vegetarian meal at Amma's Canteen. Would highly recommend!

Stunningly good food. I’m a vegetarian, my two meat-eating friends had veggie too and we were all blown away. Stuffed okra, and lentil doughnuts were standouts but all delicious, innovative but not over complicated. Superb service too, helping us pick the right dishes and the right amount (I hate over ordering). Plus it was excellent value. Thank you!

This place is incredible you should go. The food was absolutely delicious, there is a lovely IPA on draft, just wonderful.

A place most certainly worth travelling to dine at. We ordered lots of starters which are South Indian street food dishes as mains. They were delicious and each dish had a unique but aromatic taste and were just divine. The staff are very attentive and the owner is a wonderful gentleman who took the time to come to our table and make general conversation and be sure we enjoyed what was served. Cant wait to go back! We eat at Amma's regularly and the food is always brilliant. We always have a selection of the street food dishes as these are not available elsewhere. If you think you don't like okra then try the stuffed and deep fried dish in Amma's. It will change your mind about okra. The owners and staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable about the food. The atmosphere is great . Just go....

Absolutely top class evening. Delicious food- vegan options are plentiful and staff knowledgeable about what is available etc. Staff are friendly and attentive and create a lovely atmosphere.

Ammas is fantastic and I have been here lots of times. Lovely food which is different from usual curry houses and excellent friendly service. The okra is still my favourite dish - it is amazing. The dosas are scrummy too. Highly recommended.

Quality food and friendly knowledgable staff, always helpful. Menu is varied and extensive enough but not overwhelming. Been 3 times now and really enjoyed every time. Thanks
