Stayed 3 weeks ago on a Sunday and had brilliant 2 days. Great place - lovely food and lovely bloke who owns it. Hotel room - dinner and full breakfast in lovely place for £25 - fantastic. Castle and park 2 mins walk away. Whalley Abbey 10 mins in car.

La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – ClitheroeThis delightful deli bar has a nice ambiance, we stopped for a coffee and cake. My wife chose a Rocky Road to die for. There's lots to admire inside with art on the walls and gorgeous food items to take away. It's licensed too!
Benedicts of Whalley – ClitheroeSpent a fab night at the Spread last week. Cosy bar with real ale, the nicest restaurant I have been in, food was fabulous, the room was lovely, the setting was lovely,a guy played acoustic guitar and sang while we finished off a great bottle of wine, I was in heaven. Sawley Abbey 3 minutes walk away.
Spread Eagle – ClitheroeThis has got to be the best by far! I am coeliac and have never been treated or greeted so well in a restaurant since I was diagnosed 5 years ago. The food was excellent as was the choice. A very friendly, helpful and value for money meal. We enjoyed the ambience and the atmosphere. What a pleasant surprise we shall certainly be returning soon and I plan to organise a trip over bringing with me folks from the Manchester group of the coeliac society. Thanks Rachael and to all your staff too we had a perfect evening.

The Buck Country Pub – ClitheroeMy wife and I had an excellent meal in the Duke of York a couple of weeks ago. The menu was interesting and imaginative and the food was cooked to perfection, with outstanding flavours and quality. The wine list complimented the menu perfectly with a good range to suit all tastes and pockets. It is well worth a visit and one of the best places to eat in the Ribble Valley.
Duke of York – ClitheroeNew Deli Cafe Bar at No1 George street in Whalley. The perfect place to buy your fresh bread and deli products followed by a fabulous italian coffee. Little Italy comes to Little Whalley. You can dine in or take the deli products away. worth seeing
Benedicts of Whalley – ClitheroeMe and my husband return to this restaurant again and again as you really feel at home and always feel welcomed by the staff there. The food is excellent and is good value for money as the portions are big. Would always recommend this restaurant to anyone. The restaurants ambience and surroundings really make you feel as if you are on holiday!!!!!!
Amico Mio – ClitheroeI dined here with my husband recently for a late (liquid!) lunch and absolutely loved it. The staff were very attentive and the food amazing. For two courses and a couple of rounds of drinks it came to a reasonable £39. I had great expectations as it is owned by the same people who have Mitton Hall and Emporium. The decor inside was lovely, eclectic but still traditional with a large beer garden to the rear. Will definitely be visiting again.
Waddington Arms – ClitheroeWent recently as a party of 6 adults & 2 children could not fault the presentation or quality of the food but, when you are paying £16 for a salmon fillet and that's all that come and with no vegetables or potatoes which are extra then it's pricey. Refer to the main menu regarding vegetables & potatoes as it wasn't on the specials menu.

Assheton Arms – ClitheroeHad lunch at the Copy Nook, after passing it a few times, and we were not disappointed at all, good & varied menu at reasonable prices.
Copy Nook Hotel – ClitheroeWe recently visited the Red Pump Inn for lunch, and I have to say that the standard of the food was amongst the best I have ever tasted - restaurants included. After reading all the recommendations I naturally expected the meal to be good. However, it surpassed my expectations by far.. It was perfectly presented and the sheer taste was to die for. A wonderful lunchtime experience, due without doubt to an exceptional chef. I would give the meals 9 out of 10, no question about it. A great experience and one not to be missed. The standard of food by far exceeds what one would expect from a public house.
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeDuke of York date visited 27th Feb 2010. Our party of 4 was looking forward to sampling the really good food we have had on previous visits to this restaurant, how wrong we were. The presentation of the food is first class it's just the portions were very small & miserly compared to the previous meals we've had here and as such the depth of flavour just didn't come through with the food. This was a memorable meal all for the wrong reasons, don't get me wrong I will complement restaurants when I've had a good meal but, this left all of us empty in both stomach & pocket £140, starving. It was a good a job we had lunch in Haworth earlier in the day. When we got back to our cottage we had to put a couple of pizza's in the oven, not a good advert. The following day we went to the Waddington Arms for Sunday lunch and came out of there a good deal fuller and at 1/2 the price. Will be a long time before we think of going to the Duke of York again.
Duke of York – ClitheroeI went to the Eagle with some expectations of a good meal but was sadly disappointed. The fish pie was 80% (and I am being generous here) mashed potato and when I did locate the odd piece of salmon it was overcooked, dry and devoid of flavour. Thankfully the goats cheese starter had not been touched by the hands of the kitchen beyond plating it up with some surprisingly pulpy and flavourless figs and a smattering of leaves. The ambiance after 10pm was best described as 'school disco for the over 40's' which at least provided us with some unexpected entertainment, unlike the food. I won't be rushing back.
The Eagle at Barrow – ClitheroeWhat a fantastic meal-the best Italian we have ever had. The food was out of this world, the tastes were just sublime. The staff couldn't do enough to make our meal special and told us all about the dishes and where the produce was sourced. You haven't lived until you have sampled the delights at this authentic Italian restaurant.
La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – ClitheroeI recently dined at this beautiful establishment and it was superb. The Place is drop-dead gorgeous with roaring log fires and lovely traditional charm balanced with modern luxurious touches. Loads of comfy settees and also a very classy restaurant. Also worth noting were the beautiful toilets - I always judge a place on its toilets! We dined off the Table d-hote menu which was two courses plus a glass of champagne for a great £20! The food was beautiful, very nicely presented and staff very attentive. One slight gripe is that they failed to cook my beef well- done as I had asked (how hard is this??!) but I experience this wherever I go and they did do it again and it was almost perfect! A definite place to go if you want a classy and luxurious meal in beautiful surroundings.
