La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – ClitheroeWent there for the first time just before Christmas & had a wonderful meal. The atmosphere was good, service excellent. The food was fresh, the choices were interesting, very different from the usual so-called Italian fare served by local restaurants- very authentic. The red grapefruit sorbet served as a palate cleanser was a welcome touch. We will definitely return.
La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – ClitheroeThis place is my favourite restaurant. I simple loved it! Great for all the family due to the lively music and swift social service. I recommend to anyone wanting a fun night out with fab food. PS the nachos are glorious!

The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeWhat a great place with fantastic food and friendly staff. We have been a lot since they opened, both in larger groups and as a couple, and the standard has always been the same. Cant say enough good things about this restaurant, well worth a visit.
Tiger Lounge – ClitheroeI was really lucky to find the Red Pump Inn when living in the area Mon-Fri for work and lodged there for about 4 months. The hosts and the staff made me more welcome than I have ever felt in any hotel. The food was consistently wonderful with only one problem. Ashley's steaks have left me thoroughly dissatisfied with all other offerings I have tried anywhere, even at more than double the price in so called classy establishments. I am a great fan of food travelling extensively on business and do not exaggerate when I say it is my most favourite hotel and restaurant in the whole world! It is that one in a million perfect blend of warm welcome, great atmosphere and wonderful food that is so hard to find these days. And take it from one who knows, it is always that way, as I experienced it every day for months. I hope my wife never reads this but I never wanted to go home to "normal" food and always looked forward to coming back to my second home every Monday.
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeHave made 3 visits to the Parkers Arms and found the food and service very good-excellent until the last visit. I ordered soup which was good, salad which consist of half an iceberg covered in oil, a plate full of bread (I do not especially like bread), some ham and boiled egg which appeared more like a poached egg - with the yolk running all over the rest of my food. This was not impressive. When I asked for a replacement egg i.e. cooked fully, I was told 'All our eggs are soft boiled'. My partner ordered a Bowland burger - the meal was skinny and half way through realised that it was not cooked in the middle. The meal was very expensive for what it was and we will not be returning. iI suggest to keep customers, that the owner be open to customer suggestions/evaluations.
Parkers Arms – ClitheroeFour of us had lunch at the Duke of York on Tuesday 23rd September 2008 and we all had the Pork Belly. We agreed it was excellent. Nicely served and with good vegetables and ales to go with it. I don't know what else they can do but if the Pork Belly was typical, it's worth trying.
Duke of York – ClitheroeWe enjoyed a very good meal in beautiful surroundings at Mitton Hall. The only negative was that the food was lukewarm. However we did decide not to sit in the restaurant which probably created the problem. Well worth a visit. I am particularly looking forward to returning on a icy winters day to enjoy the huge roaring fires!
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeThe place and people are great the food is some of the best Italian food I have ever had and I have been to some of the best London Italian's, hope they get there Michelin star soon.
La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – ClitheroeThe best Martini the other side of the Atlantic!, After a five minute discussion about the merits of Ian Flemming and the Italian's bringing vermouth to the States our fast talking barman made my husband his perfect martini, and a pussyfoot for myself. Dinner to die for, service with a smile, and free jokes! Forget formality and just enjoy! (special thanks to Andy and Heather) Absolutely loved it!
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeMitton Hall has everything, visiting on Saturday after a friend suggested the place, with a group of friends we were astounded at the transformation. Welcomed at the front door, we were offered "Cheeky little cocktails" and "Big Fat Gin's" by our enthusiastic bottle throwing barman (our expectant friend was allowed a mineral water!) and our quiet waitress was wonderful and the whole atmosphere had a certain quality that gave the impression we were at a friend's house for dinner. The food in the Brasserie was of a standard far above expectations, and the smiling service continued. Whether it be the decor, the food or indeed the staff, visit Mitton soon. You will not be disappointed.
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeWonderful restaurant. Great service, great food. Especially love the Mexican revolution. We go back time and again and have a fabulous time without fail every time. 5 *
Wellsprings Inn Pendle Hill – ClitheroeTipping it down with rain, horrific storm, freezing cold and soaked through we were thoroughly miserable and couldn't dislike the Ribble Valley any more than we did at that point. Then we had an early supper at The Red Pump Inn. Restorative, good humoured, friendly hosts who were attentive but not intrusive and the food....well, probably the best ribeye steak I have ever had. Superb mackerel starter and a creamy pannacotta put a smile back on our faces. Highly recommended indeed. Restored our faith in the Ribble Valley which has ruined all of our walking clothes this week!
The Red Pump Inn – ClitheroeWow what a find, went on Saturday 19thJuly 2007. Great welcome, perfect pasta & Antipasto, Liver cooked to perfection, friendly staff. Only moan is the dislike of Birthday celebrations where waiters all sing happy Birthday etc. Why do sad customers want all the restaurant to join in their celebrations.
La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – ClitheroeWe recently found the Assheton Arms quite by accident and popped in for a bit of lunch. No doubt, it's in a lovely spot and the pub itself is certainly traditional but I suspect not to everyone's taste. Excellent pint though and the starter of shrimps in cream was without doubt one of the best starters I've ever had - stunningly delicious. Our main courses decent as they where neither lived up to their billing maybe due in no small part to the quality of the starter. Somehow both the fish in batter and the sausage melt baguette didn't quite live up to their billing and seemed just a bit "tired" somehow. As the kitchen area is quite open and visible from the bar we couldn't help noticing the microwave seemed very busy. Decent but ultimately just a little disappointing.
Assheton Arms – ClitheroeAre we being looked after? That is how you are greeted at Mitton Hall, If not why not that is Andy's second question, we were offered dinner, drinks or a big fat gin! One could get easily mistaken for thinking we were at a friends house. I dare anyone to to find fault with what happens at Mitton from entry to exit. Wonderful food, excellent service (Katy? I think) but everything from G&T to Cappuccino you cannot fault. Brilliant! Thank Andy it's Friday!
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeFerrari, Aston Martin, Hummer and a sports Lotus in the car park, One could be mistaken for an expensive photo-shoot but this is just an average Saturday night at Mitton Hall (we were informed by our pony-tailed barman), The new revised menu and cocktails to order, whether on the list or not, were superb. Try something different this Saturday but book in advance, because you need to. Absolutely wonderful!!!
