The Groes Inn, nr Conwy is a beautiful cosy place to celebrate a birthday with lunch next to the warm fire. We travelled from South Wales to visit family and bought our dogs with us, so needed to find a nice pub which accepted 3 dogs while we ate lunch. As well as having a lovely meal, the dogs were greeted on arrival and even given treats to settle them while we enjoyed the traditional atmosphere and of course the food. We shall definitely visit again, and may even have an overnight stay as we now know the dogs will be welcome.

Called into The Groes Inn during a holiday to the beautiful area around Conwy hoping for a quick snack. We were made so welcome by the owners and were astounded at the warmth and decor of the pub, the log fire and the amazing menu. The food was delicious and we can't wait to return for a longer stay in the beautiful rooms, which we were shown. Well worth a visit.

The Groes has been our favorite place to eat and drink since we discovered it on moving to this stunning part of the world some four years ago. The food is simply superb, the wine and beer excellent and the staff couldn't be friendlier. We had lunch there today - a game casserole to die for - warm fire, happy customers, what more can be said. We will return again and again.

Thee of us take a wheelchair bound friend out weekly and travel all over Shropshire / north and mid Wales. We first visited The Groes about 6 weeks ago and really felt it meritted a second visit .Wheelchair access is easy , the atmosphere welcoming and even by the door the room is warm and cosy.We thoroughly recommend the home brewed beer it has a real nutty flavour. The regular menu has an excellent range of starters and mains but, there is also a specials board which changes .The quality of the food is first class, full of flavour, simply served, hot and with ample portions for four good eaters Like Arnie says we will be back!

If you imagine the perfect place to eat and drink then the Groes fits the bill perfectly. Great beer, great food and above all excellent service.

The food is simply delicious, with some tasty twists to traditional fare sitting comfortably alongside "what you might expect". After a lovely dinner, my family and i were back for more a couple of days later for lunch - which was equally as enjoyable. It's a real North welsh welcome at the Groes Inn, with staff being very accommodating and friendly with it. * Written with impartiality - nothing to do with the Groes Inn home brewed ale - which went down a treat!

We as a family often go to the Queen's Head for lunch when we shop at Llandudno. It's advisable to arrive early, as it fills up quickly. There is a buzz at this gastropub, and the service is quick and efficient as well as being personal. The menu is wide-ranging, with local fish, meat and game, and the occasional curry. One can opt for a quick starter or a full menu including a starter, main course, pudding and coffee (so one can dine cheaply or go the whole hog, which will not break the bank anyway). Food is freshly cooked to order, and is professionally presented. Yet the place retains the atmosphere of a pub, and the food isn't pretentious or fancy. It's all very reliable and very good. That's why we return again and again.

This is a fantastic little restaurant. The food is top notch and the views of the Welsh coast are just stunning. The owner is very welcoming and a great hostess. We ate there twice and both meals were excellent, nothing could be faulted. Well worth a visit if you are in or around Conwy. Louisa & Liam 20/06/2009

From Conwy go towards Trefriw and turn right at the Groes Inn towards Rowen and you come across the Dutch Pancake House on the right just before the village. A choice of 65 savory and sweet pancakes with a specials board. Open every day 11-5.30 except Monday (excl Bank Hols) and can highly recommend. Service first class on Saturday 28 Feb 09 when we visited. Licensed and afternoon tea served. Great place for the kids as they can feed the ducks on the ponds (magnet for fishermen) and see the reptile house.

The first licenced pub in Wales, cozy with open fires and lots of brass. Food always to a high standard with a specials board of in season produce.

Olde world pub tucked away between Conwy and Llandudno with excellent restaurant (there is a rush Saturday lunch so get there early). Homemade steak pie is superb.

Fabulous views over to Conwy and the castle from Nikki Ips - like dining in a Chinese persons home - no mono sodium whatsit here - lovely barrel of special fried rice that we could have eaten all evening - simple, clean tasting Chinese food.

On Conwy Marina with fabulous views over to Deganwy. Always excellent food and service. The homemade steak pie is wonderful, ribeye with stilton and mushroom sauce also good and always homemade soup on the menu. Never any room for pudding. The Sunday carvery 12-4 is also excellent with fresh vegetables and a choice of beef, pork and turkey (or all 3).
